We had the good fortune of connecting with Dom Dodd and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dom, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking.
I have an interesting relationship with taking risks. I believe that if you’re doing what you love, there’s no risk. The fear of taking risks is actually the fear of failure and in my eyes, if you’re doing what you love – you’ve already won. If things pan out differently than you expected, it’s only a stepping stone to get you closer to where you want to be.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m grateful to say I’ve never questioned whether this was the right path for me. Even when people told me my videos were bad, I used it as fuel, knowing this would grow into something bigger than myself. Now, I’m surrounded by incredible friends who are all chasing their dreams, and we make sure to keep pushing each other forward.

Two people who have seen me at my lowest and pulled me out of the mud are VINNIE WYA and Jake Crocker—without them, life would be a lot less colorful.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I grew up in the Pacific Northwest so finding a break from the city was huge for me when I first moved down here. One of my favorite spots to take a deep breath is Runyon Canyon. Looking over the city helps me to reflect on the past week or day and become present. Everyone has their own special spot like this.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
From a young age, my mom has been my biggest supporter. She’s taught me compassion and patience—values that have become the foundation of my career and life. Even in moments of confusion or loss, she’s held her head high and stayed clear of pessimism. I hope to one day repay her, though the sacrifices she’s made are truly priceless.
