We had the good fortune of connecting with Dominique Benedict and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dominique, how do you think about risk?
Without risk, there is no reward and the entire purpose of Breakfast At Dominique’s is to inspire more people to take risks and create their own legacy.
I’ve never thought about any decision as a risk quite honestly. Once something sounds enticing in my mind personally, all bets are off and I will work nonstop until that idea has come to fruition and then some.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I started Breakfast At Dominique’s with an idea to bring inspiration into people’s homes through storytelling during the pandemic when everyone was at an all time low, it seemed. My vehicle of choice to get these names, faces, and stories back into lives worldwide is high quality coffee. We are incredibly lucky to work with a woman-owned roastery based out of Ohio, USA, who agrees that taking the time to do every little thing right for the sake of quality is important.
Professionally, my background is music, photography, and entertainment. Pre-covid, my life was traveling full time and photographing musicians along with assisting in other facets of the industry as I was needed. It contributed so much to my work ethic, knowledge of business, and shaped who I am today completely. I’ve never seen an idea as unattainable – mainly because I’ve witnessed dreams come true from the very beginning of my work life. It’s inspiring.
I always tell people that hard work, networking, and dedication to your ideas get you everywhere.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I am not actually based out of LA, but oh my goodness, I’ve been plenty and would absolutely take anyone to the Hollywood Heritage Museum to see the most incredible history you’ll ever witness. They have memorabilia that no other Museum in the world can get their hands on. It’s incredible. History is so important to me and Los Angeles is full of it. As a massive fan of The Doors, I feel like a reservation for The Lucky Tiki is a must now that it has re-opened. It’s located in the place where they recorded LA Woman! Atomic Records in Burbank is absolutely where I would take any friend to spend an entire afternoon. They’ve got incredible hidden gems at prices you’ll never see anywhere else. I have found stuff there that I’ve never seen at any record store across the country! As you’ve figured out by now, I’m a total music nut, so the perfect day would have to include a stop by the Rainbow to see the iconic Lemmy memorial statue and soak in the legendary atmosphere that space has. Beyond that, wandering Magnolia Park in Burbank is so amazing. It’s the tight-knit community you yearn for in a big city filled with incredible small businesses and items you’d never find elsewhere.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Every single legacy and estate we work with deserves credit and recognition for taking a chance on this project. These stories matter and without their vote of confidence in this idea, we’d still be at square one trying to figure out how to do this.
