We had the good fortune of connecting with Doniyah Johnson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Doniyah, as a parent, what have you done for you children that you feel has had the most significant impact?
The most important thing I’ve done as a parent, in terms of the impact on my son, is ensuring he knows he can be as free as he wants and live the life he chooses. He’s only 2, almost 3, but he’s already very free-spirited and friendly, just like me.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
What I am most proud of is being authentically myself and never letting what others think get to me.

I’m proud of the ideas I come up with for reels, Instagram shorts, and TikToks, and how I go about creating them. I’m also proud of the relationships I’ve built as a “creative.” Even though I don’t consider myself the biggest creative, I love what I do and do it for the fun of it. If something comes to mind, I’m always going to do it, regardless of what others think. I’ll always be cracking up and making myself laugh.

My brand is being myself and saying or doing whatever I want! I want everyone to always be their truest selves.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend were visiting LA, we’d definitely go bar hopping! I love the variety of bars in Hollywood, West Hollywood, downtown, and the Valley. We’d also go jet skiing and bowling. Also, take some heel & dance classes!

Definitely NOT hiking, though— it tires me out way too fast lol

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
The person who deserves the most credit for who I am and what I do is my mom! Even when I make mistakes, she’s always there, pushing me 100% every time. She always has my back, and for every career or accomplishment I pursue, she stands right behind me, ensuring I know my worth.
