We had the good fortune of connecting with Dr. Anastasia Lander and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dr. Anastasia, as a parent, what have you done for you children that you feel has had the most significant impact?
In my thirties, I decided to switch careers, go back to college and pursue a career as a chiropractor. My daughter watched me study with her, continue to study after she went to sleep, and still work and take care of our home. She would often ask me ‘mom, why are you working so hard’ and my answer was ‘because I can and because I am passionate about wanting to be a chiropractor’. It’s been over 14 years since I graduated and to this day, she tells me she is proud of me for not giving up and showing her that it is never too late to pursue your dream.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My husband and I own Lander Chiropractic in Brea, California. This is our dream practice. We like to call it a one stop wellness shop. We both help people of all ages. My passion and focus is working with pregnant families and children. I remember when I was pregnant (this was before the internet was available), I had so many questions and I remember just feeling miserable during my pregnancy. When I went through chiropractic school and learned about how chiropractic could help women and children, it became my passion and focus. At this point in my life, it is truly gratifying to hear their birth stories afterward. We also offer acupuncture and massage at the office. We have the most wonderful community of patients that we just adore and are committed to helping them stay healthy and active.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
As someone that loves beaches and wine, I would recommend that they visit as many beautiful beaches as they can. In SoCal, we can go to a beach a day and not visit all of the beaches. I would probably go to Laguna Beach first and stop off at the winery on the way back. Kayaking and stand up paddle board is a must. The Newport Aquatic center is perfect for those activities and we could go to OrangeCoast Winery. I would definitely do a drive to San Diego and check out a couple of beaches and go to Temecula on the way back. The final part of the week would be in Santa Monica and Venice beach. If it were a two week trip, then Santa Barbara and Paso Robles would be in as well!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to give a huge shout out to my daughter, Destiny and my husband, James. I would not be able to be here without their support and love. My daughter was my biggest fan when I was going through chiropractic school including quizzing me and motivating me not to give up. My husband and business partner, James Lander is the biggest blessing I could have asked in life as a person, best friend, husband and overall human being. I am so blessed to have them both in my life.
