We had the good fortune of connecting with Dr. Deepti Gandhi, M.D. and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dr. Gandhi, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
Honestly speaking, I only realized the need for work life balance over the last decade of my life. The message I received from culture, society and my profession was that a respectable life was centered around hustling and being busy. It wasn’t until I stepped off of the hamster wheel and took inventory, that it became clear to me there was a major imbalance in my life…that it lacked the alignment with passion and purpose that I desired. I changed course professionally and personally, pivoting inwards and leaning on my intuition. With time, I have honed my ability to detect imbalance. When I notice it, I know it is a sign that I need to practice more self care. It may seem paradoxical, but I attain balance by taking the time to focus on myself. As a mother and business owner, I find that when my cup is filled so to speak, I truly have more to offer others.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I am the owner and Medical Director of Soleil Aesthetics and Wellness located in Orange County. We are a medical aesthetics and wellness practice that combines cutting edge technology with a high level of medical expertise. We offer a variety of treatment options for skin and hair concerns, as well as women’s health issues. Our mission is to not only deliver safe and effective therapies that improve the health and well-being of our patients, but to help them look and feel vibrant.
Opening my own practice has taken hard work, sacrifice, dedication and a leap of faith. There have definitely been challenges and setbacks. It has also given me the opportunity for flexibility, autonomy as well as immense self-growth and expansion. During trying times, I have learned that focusing on my intention to be of service always centers me and illuminates my path forward.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Griffith Observatory, Sunset Boulevard, Hollywood sign, La Brea Tar Pits, Venice Beach, Universal Studios, Disneyland, Hollywood Bowl, Chateau Marmont, Matsuhisa…LA offers the tastiest and most interesting cuisine so I would take them to as many charming restaurants, food trucks and stands as possible!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
1. Huge shoutout to my children who have been my most powerful awakeners and teachers. They keep me on my toes! 2. I must recognize my partner who is my biggest supporter and best friend. 3. My mother’s unshakeable confidence in me has always given me strength. 4. Dr. Shefali Tsabary – Her wisdom and her book, The Conscious Parent have been lifechanging and connected me to so many beautiful and inspiring souls.
