We had the good fortune of connecting with Dr Egypt Iredia and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dr Egypt, we’d love to hear what makes you happy.
Feeling like I’m walking my unique path in life makes me happy. I like to feel I’m not an imposter in my own life. Or feeling like I betrayed my aspirations to fit into a mold. I like standing in my truth and having my unique voice. Even though I might stand out from others. As I grow older I’m also appreciating the need for simplicity and greater meaning in my life. I yearn to live slower and lighter. Minimalism and voluntary simplicity have been powerful tools in achieving this aim. I’m also learning that happiness is an inside job. But curating one’s external environment and relationships to align with our values, makes a state of happiness more readily accessible. I dedicated a large chunk of my life to trying to please others. Auditioning to their expectations of me. And living a lie. It stifled my creative and personal development, and this left me unhappy and with a heavy heart. I’m slowly untangling the ramifications of that perspective, and living according to my truth, as best I can.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My art is my life. Honestly, I’m on a mission to unbox myself from societal norms and craft my unique life tapestry. If you look at my work online you will see I’m engaged in many things. healing, writing, poetry, speaking on podcasts, etc. Some might view this as scattered and non-connecting. To me it all makes sense. I’m a generalist or modern renaissance person. Some call this a multi-potentiality. I’m not hyperfocused on one life area. Instead like to dive into a few of my interests. I feel most fulfilled that way. Hence, I’m cultivating an online garden, sharing my work and my different interests. On a given work day you can find me either seeing clients in my online wellness practice, sharing poetry, speaking, creating art, or writing articles for various publications and platforms.

I’m not a social media person, and don’t intend to be. It takes too much mental energy and time from me. Especially for my highly sensitive person inclination. So my website is where I collate all of my entrepreneurial and creative ventures. It’s a work in progress. I stand out from the masses I think in daring to collate multiple passions under one roof. Manifesting Alchemy is my overarching parent platform, Where I branch out from. The name was chosen, as my life intention is to alchemize myself into the most fulfilled and expressive version of myself.

This wasn’t an easy path to walk. I’m a trained Medical doctor, and gave that career trajectory up, to follow my interest and inclinations. I’m a soft-threading, non-competitive highly sensitive creative, and empath. Not exactly the character trait to excel in modern medical practice. So I retrained in natural healing and various other modalities in the creative and healing arts. I love what I do now, and am slowly crafting a living out of it. Some have considered me a disappointment (my parent) but ultimately it’s my life and my choices to make.
Believe me when I say people pleasing gets you nowhere.
it’s important to define what success looks like to you. Easy? No, but worth it? Totally.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Well, it depends on the town, state country, etc. But generally, I enjoy cultural and artsy places like museums, galleries, ballets, music performances, and theatres. Other than this I love to be in the natural environment. So it would have to be a visit to a national park, hiking, kayaking, or cabin in the woods type experience, Another surreal experience would be to take a train ride through beautiful vistas of nature. I couldn’t ask for more. In terms of eats, I’m vegan and like to eat more healthily than most. So it would have to be a raw vegan restaurant/cafe of sorts. I find people who are engaged in the arts, spiritual, or healing work to be one of the most fun and exciting groups of people to hang out with. I also enjoy places where deep conversations are cultivated. So an open, round table or gathering of minds like a conference, seminar, or summit is where I love being also.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I dedicate this one to Santos Bonnacci. I’ve been influenced by many spiritual and personal development teachers. But Santos Bonnacci is up there for me. He’s an astrotheologist and syncretist. He expanded my understanding of the interconnectedness of all the major fields of human knowledge. His work is profound. I recommend him to anyone interested in astrology, philosophical syncretism, etymology, and indigenous wisdom traditions. A few other minds that have influenced me include Darryl Reanney, Louise Hay, Pema Chodron, Clarrissa Pinkola Estes, Don Tolman, Eckhart Tolle, Sacha Stone, Greg Braden, Zecharia Sitchin, and Byron Katie.

Gosh, there are too many to name. I’m passionate about lifelong learning. And matters of the profound like esotericism, astrology, ancient wisdom, natural healing e.t.c speak deeply to me. As a natural syncretic thinker and multi-passionate being. I’m comfortable in the space of non-linear thinking. I like to connect the dots through many fields of knowledge. The stoics Epictetus, Seneca, and Aurelius and poet-spiritualists like Al-Ghazali and Rumi have also touched me deeply. In terms of organization the Institute of HeartMath, and the Institute of Noetic Science are engaged in very interesting research.
