We had the good fortune of connecting with Dr. Erin Cueto and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dr. Erin, what is the most important factor behind your success?
As a small independent pharmacy we are in a very competitive market against large chain pharmacies and mail order. However we continually succeed and thrive because we offer an experience and level of care that can’t be replicated on a large scale. We embraced our small patient base and strive to give them our best everyday, and in return we enjoy immense loyalty. Customers recognize the value in our service both in their pocketbook and in their physical health. Our entire staff genuinely care for our patients like family, and we pride ourselves on the level of healthcare we provide. Once someone experiences our pharmacy, they can never go back to a chain.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We are always pushing boundaries. We have the most sophisticated and technologically advanced equipment in order to provide efficiency and safety. Our pharmacists are continually educating themselves and staying up to date on the newest frontiers of medicine and guidelines.

We’re always excited to partner with community groups in order to reach the underserved. During the pandemic health inequity has become an increasing problem, and we want to help fill the gaps. This includes working with senior organization, the local YMCA, park and recs, and other grassroots organizations. Currently, we’re working to set up a mobile vaccination clinic for community members who can’t leave their home, as well as clinics for our unhoused population who may not have access. Additionally, we’re reaching out directly to seniors and other individuals that may not have access to the internet or be able to schedule appointments online.

I’ve learned that the only way we can grow is by taking risks. It may mean trying new technology, learning new services, or working with new partners. There is no reward without risk and it has been crucial in keeping our pharmacy dynamic and adaptable in this changing economy and healthcare system.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
The morning would start at Solar Cafe, which has the perfect setting for enjoying a coffee and the paper in the morning. Its small and intimate, but also open and friendly. You can go for breakfast or just just get a coffee and open your laptop to get some work done.

Venice Beach and Abbot Kinney is always a fun spot for people watching and window shopping.

I wish I could spend every weekend at the Huntington Library. They have the most amazing botanical gardens that is always groomed to perfection, as well as their extensive art collection which is impressive in its own right. Its the perfect place to go with family on a warm day.

Few things are free in LA, except the Getty Museum! Its is the perfect spot for a picnic and stroll around the gardens and galleries.

Koreatown is my favorite eating spot. There is no shortage of great restaurants and bars, although you may have to be patient and wait for a table!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My employees are the most hard working individuals I know. They not only go above and beyond in order to help people but function at a high level of efficiency. Our pharmacy is successful because of their efforts, often working behind the scenes to make sure our patients are taken care of. I wouldn’t have been able to succeed without them.
