Meet Dr. Janet Williams, MD | Ob/Gyn, Intimate Life Coach & Professional Hypnotist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Dr. Janet Williams, MD and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dr. Janet, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
If I have this problem even with all of the education and experience that I have then surely there is a market for the solution I’ve come up with for myself. I knew I needed to help women with this important part of their lives that no one was really addressing. And as a professional black woman over 40 I just couldn’t find anyone with the medical experience and knowledge, cultural understanding and an openness to the alternative and spiritual aspects of sexual health and wellbeing. And the truth is, all of those components are needed for optimal health and sexual function.
What should our readers know about your business?
Having worked with thousands of women over the years, I was constantly was asked by my patients for product recommendations. Initially I thought about making a product but when I looked into I realized there were some budding products in the market that helped in the areas that my patients needed help. Most of the platforms at the time were either limited to 1 or 2 products or they were cheesy sketchy adult toy shops. I wanted to create something that honored the way I see sex and sensuality as a healthy and beautiful part of good living. So I launched IntimateWellnessShop.com to help my patients find trusted doctor-curated intimate and sexual care products.
A few years ago after my own troubled fertility journey I was facing some intense struggles in my intimate life. And despite my professional success I battled personally with my self worth and sexual health suffered. I created a holistic integrated program for myself. The medical knowledge I have was great but I found that wasn’t enough. I worked with a life coach, a therapist, with a hypnotist and implemented some important self-care practices. With all of that I was able to turn things around. Now I have found the authentic self-love we all deserve and an amazing intimate confidence unlike anything I’ve previously known.
Having made the change in my own life I decided to help others do the same and that’s why I founded GoodGroove.com Coaching and Hypnosis Programs.
One of the things that makes my business unique is that I have a special interest in the needs of women over 40. And as a black woman physician who has been through it myself I’m uniquely positioned to help every woman to achieve a blissful intimate life. I believe every woman, regardless of age, race, shape or belief system, should have power over her own body, the right to express herself sexually and the ability to dictate her own brand of pleasure. I work with women and their partners to help them conquer the physical and emotional changes that often come with age, treasure their natural magnificence and enjoy phenomenal confident pleasure.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My shoutout goes to all of my patients who have been brave enough to share their journey’s and difficulties along the way. The book “Come As You Are” written by Emily Nagoski changed the way I viewed myself, my self worth and the challenges in our sex lives.
