We had the good fortune of connecting with Drake Dalgleish and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Drake, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
For as long as I remember the most fun I’ve ever had is living a fantasy. By myself and with friends and family. Playing pretend is something I did as a kid and will continue to do forever. I just think it’d be nice to make a career out of that. Weather it’s creating new worlds and characters or playing the part, I want to be free and creative.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a little all over the place with my work. One day I’ll be working on this big budget Hollywood gig while the next day making the most low budget gorilla film and still be having a blast. Before film school I worked on shorts with my best friends and after moving to LA I’ve met some really awesome artists that I can’t wait to see on set again.
We all have them same drive of creating stories that we can enjoy together and if other people watch it that’s great too! As a group of creatives once said “I’d rather be 9 peoples favorite thing, then 100 peoples ninth favorite thing” [title of show]
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
In the 4 years I’ve lived here there are two places I consistently will just go to without hesitation. First would be Universal City Walk. It’s got everything! Food, stores, music, movies! I live right across the street from it, and it’s usually the first stop I take visiting friends to.
I also have to give a huge shout out to JINYA Ramen in Burbank on Riverside. Not only is the ramen just to die for, but the view at night with the fire pit and the tower! Just amazing! Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have been given so much support from my home town community. Past Teachers, Creative partners, Friends & Family Especially! But I literally could not be doing what I am without the support of my parents. Duane and Jeri Dalgleish have given me a life that I got to choose what I wanted to be and humor me in my journey to make a living as an artist. Their support has meant the world to me. They are usually the first to watch any of my content and the first thanked in any project I work on.
