We had the good fortune of connecting with Drew Miles and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Drew, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
SimpleWednesday is a safe haven curated with comfort and this is our musical journey through self expression. We are a passionate collective that focuses on the community and the connection of people with all backgrounds, who speak the universal love language of music. This collective invites all to enter as their authentic selves to freely share their experiences with music and art. We provide an opportunity for people to explore the daily impact of music by illuminating and building on the inspiration we desire.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.

SimpleWednesday is art itself because it’s about our self expression as people with music , which is the most important thing. We should all have a space where we can enter and be at peace. This was curated for that exact reason, music enthusiast love to share and what better place for people to come to and share the impact of music has had on their life and how they express it. I think SimpleWednesday sets itself apart with being able to find its place in all these other mediums of art through either a playlist/Art/Creative writing & Fashion. Branching out to so many people who are creatives in their own right but somehow directing that skill set and their passion for music that may have had influence on something they painted, designed or wrote.

I’m most proud of the growth of the brand/collective, I look back about 4 years ago and where I was in the beginning before there was even a name established for the project. I was curating playlist and was worried about the success of it, along with trying to figure out how I was going to add members to the collective but honestly it all worked out for the best over these years. Getting to this point now took a lot commitment & perseverance, it wasn’t easy at all. I look at SimpleWednesday as this is a life long project of mine. I pride in challenging myself to stay updated with everything. Being aware takes endless amounts of time to find new artist/ new music/ different sounds as well as the creation of new projects that are on the horizon with the collective.

I want the world know SimpleWednesday is here to stay for a long time and most importantly we pride ourselves on being the influence with in our music community. We provide the sound of quality while being our true authentic selves within our space in this community. Being honest with who we are and how the music that touches us is the best way to know exactly what we do!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Ive been in Chicago for almost 3 years coming up this fall and im still trying to get all the homies out here just one time. Of course we would have to visit my favorite record store in the city which is ShadyRest Vintage & Records. Peter & Nuntida have been so welcoming to me and they are thoughtful people who truly love music, its so great to be in the store every time I visit. outside of that I’m just a simple guy who enjoys good food, music & company. If anything fall in those three categories them I’m down for sure.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Without God, none of this is possible. Im so thankful for the right amount of people he’s placed into my life along my personal journey and throughout the creation of SimpleWednesday.

I would like to thank my SimpleWednesday collective and all those whose are involved ( Adria, Johnny, Angela, Tatyana, Clayton, Casey, Raf, Tay, Emu, Aloe, Yara, Jeanie, Sola, Jakiyah, Kiarra & Tyler) . It really means a lot when you can create a relationship with people who truly see your vision and also want to be apart of something bigger to come. Their contributions to this collective means lot to me and i’m glad to call them family by way music. I often talk about music being the gift that keeps on giving, this is always true because I’m thankful for the new friends this has brought into my life.

Secondly, but most importantly I would like to thank my partner Allyssa who has supported me since the beginning of SimpleWednesday. She has stood by my side throughout the initial process on figuring out what exactly was this whole expression for my love of music. I’ve sent her  countless amounts of playlist when we started dating. Going through that trial and error of finding my zone with your ear was so dope, words can’t express how much you’ve had an impact on this whole thing.
