We had the good fortune of connecting with Dylan Adler and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dylan, we’d love for you to start things off by telling us something about your industry that we and others not in the industry might be unaware of?
I think one thing is how much time is spent crafting and honing in on our jokes and material
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I think I was able to get to where I am because of community. A lot of people inspire me including my friends and peers and they inspire to keep working at my own craft. Creatively I try to aim to create things I want to see myself. Joke wise I try to write jokes and songs that make me personally laugh very hard. Other projects I do like “Rape Victims are Horny Too” I co created with my friend Kelly because I wanted to hear more comedy material that could humanize and eliminate the shame around being a rape survivor.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take them to Jacob RIIS beach because it’s my favorite place in the city! Also I’d take them to see a Broadway show like Strange Loop!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Absolutely! My friends Kyle Turner and Ài Vy LUU need a shoutout. They are incredible comedians and artists and writers.
