We had the good fortune of connecting with Edgar Herrera and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Edgar, what do you want people to remember about you?
I want to be remembered as someone who refused to have a boss, so I became my own boss. I want people to remember that I didn’t have any knowledge about running or starting a business. Not having previous knowledge didn’t stop, I took a leap of faith and worked towards the future that I dreamt of.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Starting a business has definitely had its challenges but over time I’ve learned to manage my time to organize my days and future orders. Social media has been a tremendous support in the growth of my business, I’ve gained many supporters across several platforms. I think what makes me stand out and attracts people to my craft are my photos and my detailed work. In the beginning I was hesitant about doing detailed orders, but now I have more trust in my skills. I’ve had amazing positive feedback about how neat and vibrant my photos and orders are.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If I had a friend visiting the area I would take them to all my favorite spots. I would first take them to Disneyland to get in touch with our inner child, then I’d take them to Malibu to catch the sunset while having a picnic. Griffith Park is another great spot I would take them to for a hike, I’d also take them thrift shopping to put together fun outfits. As for places to eat, I would definitely take them to Buffalo Wild Wings or King Taco. I’m a huge fanatic of wings and King Taco has the best tacos and burritos. Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I can’t take all the credit for the growth of my small business, my mother, father, my sister Daniela, my brother-in-law Carlos, and my best friend Alejandra have helped along the way. My parents helped me get an area set up and organized for my supplies and bought me my own fridge. My sister Daniela, Carlos, and Alejandra have been a huge part of the success of my small business as well. Whether it’s picking up strawberries for me at 3AM, driving hours to pick up boxes of chocolate, or reply to messages, they are always there to lend a helping hand.
