We had the good fortune of connecting with Edwin Lunes and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Edwin, we’d love to start by asking you about lessons learned. Is there a lesson you can share with us?
That really I am my own manager, therapist, HR, trainer, stylist, financial advisor, boss.. That the only person to celebrate or hold accountable is myself ! On another more important note Connections, authenticity and being able to be fully present can really change the experience you have (or give) weather it’s in personal life or career. Being able to actively listen, ask more elaborating questions & going past the superficial small talk. Having this in mind next time you speak to consciously converse ( instead of speaking to respond ) really lets ourselves hold space & give space for more meaningful connections that creates a positive long lasting memory. Most important it lets us be open and vulnerable. Through that there is major power !

What should our readers know about your business?
So my company Lunes artistry is my makeup squad/ Glam Team that provides Hair Makeup & semi to permanent services like eyelash extensions micro blading, keratin straightening treatments & hair coloring services. All with the help of my family! My mother has been a cosmetologist of 25years, and my sister has been doing lashes for 5 years and brows 3 years lastly for myself I’ve been doing makeup now for 9 years but professionally 6 years. My Brand is all
About empowerment, self love/care, diversity, body positivity & enhancing your natural features that let your inner beauty shine through ✨

Coming from a fashion industry background ( growing up
With modeling first) I always stood for representation, inclusion diversity and equality. Because when I first started in the industry there was no one that looked like me or was able to enhance my brown olive skin & curly hair. Plus back in those times we still
Lived in a world where the beauty standards where Eurocentric beauty. If you weren’t bone skinny, had abs blue eyes and blonde hair you were not model material. I’ve always been ground breaking so if me stepping into
My being and hiring more BIPOC would challenge the Status quo so be it . Change starts with ourselves !

It’s been a lot of trail + error but I’m
So happy that’ through networking I’m able to gain insights in my field and learn to implant the knowledge before my upcoming experience. With every new clients comes a new project making me better my skill client per client !

If you want your needs to be exceeded, your face to be slayed all while letting your effortless beauty shine. We are the place for all your beauty needs as well as glamours transformation.

Now if you need a male
Fashion model/influencer to kill it in any aspect of modeling ( editorial, commercial, avante garde runway, acting ect) Apart from that I also do modeling coaching 1on1 and influencer mentorship. I love working with brands that align with my brand and values.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Definitely, Definitely, Definitely SEDONA ! Its just an otherworldly treasure that need to be experienced in all its glory especially if staying overnight. That way we can take a small trip to another world wonder which is flagstaff. My favorite place is the fossil creek or vortex’s to visit ( love red rock ) go for a hike then wind down at the chocolatree organic eatery or some yummy Thai food. Then probably ending the night with a swim or campfire to watch the stars.

Once after having those two little day trips probably come back to az relax at home and go out to town in Phoenix. Id take them to my favorite sushi spots like sushi broker or ra. Go for some crystal shopping at Fantasia’s or the black mineral market. If we were to go the mall preferably fashion square or arrowhead ( although the chandler outlets have great deals ) then probably dinner somewhere nice in Scottsdale like Cala or sumo maya. Maybe the next day we can do a relaxing spa day at resort like the princess or something modern and fun like the Clarendon hotel. Get a sun tan in the morning have yummy brunch/lunch around midtown downtown area like poke bowl or Mediterranean. Can never go wrong with some pho. Then I’d take them for a hike at papago and sight seeing around tempe town lake were we could paddle board and catch a night snack there. Maybe mellow mushroom or a late night arabic restaurant, if we go out and party definitely cobra, valley bar, ziggys . . . If we party to late we can keep dancing late night past 2am (when all the clubs close 🙁 I know it’s not Miami lol) we would probably end up at karambas. Hahah I think by the end of week I’d then take my friend around to do some activities or events in town. Maybe horseback riding at south mountain. Wether it’s the az art museum or Scottsdale contemporary art or first Friday. Maybe even do a group meditation or a metaphysical class at the Phoenix rising spiritualist church

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First off biggest shout out goes to my my biggest blessings, my mother. She raised me ( and my sister) as a single Mexican newly American women all by herself. We moved from Juarez Mexico to a whole new culture country and way of life in USA arizona; without being fluent in English. I’m proud she raised me to be a respectful intellectual hard working man with morals, values and ethics based on love kindness equality and humility. For raising me bilingual and keeping or ethnic traditions and indigenous views intact. She’s been my biggest supporter since I first started modeling to then studying & mastering skin+makeup while simultaneously learning about holistic heath, yoga, metaphysical healing & spirituality. Te amo y lo hago todo por ti !

I wanna give a warm shoutout to a couple of my teachers through the ages for recognizing my uniqueness. To those that gave me extra patience and compassion ( because lord knows I was so adhd 😅) They knew because I was different than the rest that the reassurance of “kid your going to get far in life if you focus and challenge yourself “ would push me further to craving my own path as a leader not a follower.

A super shoutout to my super talented educator & trainer in all things fashion/modeling/runway …. Victor Navarro. I can only say nothing but the best about this knowledgeable fashion savvy genius. He taught me at my first modeling school to later on me getting a scholarship & mentorship with him at his own academy. I walked in my first vintage Moschino piece with victor which is now in the Sonora fashion museum. I also landed a cover as the mua and assistant stylist for his spread on Harpers bazaar Europe ( I still have to pinch myself sometimes) Eres lo maximo victor ! Mil gracias por todo siempre !🫶

I very special divine shout-out to my other mom or fairy godmother/spiritual mom:The multi talented Akashic healer Mona Abassi. 🖤 Mona has Always supported my modeling before we even had the chance to meet or deeply engage. She was the first one to believe in me before I ever did makeup on any other women professionally. She hired me to glam up her models while we were still getting to know each other as Acquaintances. I’ll never forget how much it resonated to meet Mona; with that instant deja vu like feel as if we’ve know each other all our life! After that fashion show at the beloved non profit F.A.B.R.I.C Tempe for the label horde fashion show. I think it was actually the first year or second year show in that time. She’s grown with me through the baby mua steps to now the master pro artist Edwin. She’s gets a very special shoutout because we’ve both have grown so much spiritually in addition to career wise to together but seprate journeys ! I know for any business or life related matters I can count on my beloved Mona 💙 thank you habibi

Now recomendable works of art that helped me become more successful! That would first off be the secret. My mom Introduced me to the book when I was around 14. Something about the hidden truth inside of it was so exciting. The teachings have really stuck with me and are like part of dna now. 😁

Another one that just helped me restart realign and re center very deeply in life was the alchemist. At the time in my life I was at a high paying job In the airport, overworked, miserable, stressed with ptsd from getting shot a couple months back. Truly with no time for any personal needs, cares or an adequate sleep/rest for a 18 year old. I read the book while this was my life at the time. Almost as if I became the main character from the book but in my own reality/version. I started tuning into my body my intuition and the energies around me. The signs are always there we just have to take a deep breath pause and observe. Once I finished the book I decide this job doesn’t make me happy so I need to move on. There’s a whole another world waiting for me to just take that leap of faith by trusting myself and the universe. It’s always working in your favor but once you shift your focus/energy attitude wow does it align. To cut things short I was planning my escape route but the universe gave it turbo because I ended up getting let go for lunch time tardies hahah 😂 it’s funny the way spirit works sometimes but you don’t realize till some time pass and you see the whole big picture made of little puzzle piece moments.
