We had the good fortune of connecting with Eibeth & Kennedy Garcia and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Eibeth & Kennedy, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My Partner and I have always had a deep love for coffee it’s been our thing since the very beginning. Some of our best memories together have been spent exploring hidden coffee shops, trying unique drinks, and just soaking in the vibes and feel of each spot. We weren’t just drinking coffee we were falling in love with the culture, the creativity, and the sense of connection it brings.

One day we just looked at each other and thought why not us? As two young Latinos in business already , Why not create something of our own in the coffee industry and share our taste and passion with our community? It wasn’t easy but is anything ever really easy ? What moved us is that we are young, driven, and honestly felt like we had nothing to lose. That mindset of “why not?”has been our fuel since day one.

We launched SIP SOCIETY COFFEE BAR as a hobby, but it quickly turned into something much bigger than we ever imagined. Our pop-ups started selling out within the first hour, with lines forming before we even opened. The response has been surreal our East LA community has shown us nothing but love, and we’re endlessly grateful.

This is more than coffee. It’s about creating a space where people feel seen, where conversations happen, where strangers become friends. It’s a reminder that when you take a chance on your ideas no matter how small it starts it can grow into something beautiful. We’re not just building a business, we’re building a movement rooted in passion, connection, and community.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
What sets us apart is that we’re not just a coffee bar we’re a vibe, a place where community meets coffee and aesthetics.. We don’t just serve drinks, we create an experience. From the aesthetic, to the flavors, to the way we connect with every single person who stops by everything is done with intention and so much love. We want SIP to feel like your favorite corner in the city, where you can sip something special and feel seen.

We’re most proud of how far we’ve come in such a short time. Our pop-ups have sold out within hours, and we’ve had lines form before we even open. But what means the most is seeing people connect through our space laughing, talking, collaborating. That’s when we knew we were doing something right.

But it hasn’t been easy. We’ve had to learn everything from scratch permits, licenses, sourcing, marketing , set-ups, dealing with delays, and pushing through self-doubt. There were moments where we felt lost or overwhelmed, but we always reminded ourselves: we started this from love, and that love is what keeps us going. We leaned on each others asked for help, stayed humble, and kept showing up no matter what.

The biggest lesson we’ve learned? That starting scared is better than never starting at all. You don’t have to have it all figured out you just need passion, community, and the courage to keep moving forward.

What we want the world to know is that SIP SOCIETY is more than just coffee it’s a story, a dream, and a community built from the ground up by a young couple who believed they had something worth sharing. And we’re just getting started. 🤍

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend was visiting for the week, I’d make sure they experienced the heart of East LA the way we do with good food, good vibes, and a whole lot of culture.

We’d start the morning with coffee at Accurame Café in Boyle Heights. It’s the perfect spot to start the day, and if we’re in the mood for something sweet and filling, we’d head to Jack and Joe’s for their pancakes. So worth it.

For lunch, tacos at 5 Puntos are a must. You can’t visit East LA and not grab some of the best tacos around, packed with flavor and made fresh.

Later in the day, we’d cool off with a sweet treat from Bob’s Freeze, especially if it’s hot out. If we’re craving seafood, we’d cruise to Mariscos El Jato, or if we’re in the mood to cook out, we’d stop by Frankie Steaks and grab some good cuts to grill with the fam.

Kennedy’s a truck guy so a night cruise down Whittier Blvd would definitely be on the list. The vibe is unmatched, the cars the music playing, and to wrap up the night, we’d grab churros from Don Abel’s on whittier Nothing ends the night like fresh churros

East LA just has this energy you can’t find anywhere else. It’s culture, family, tradition, and community all in one. That’s the vibe I’d want to share with anyone visiting.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
We want to give a huge shoutout to our parents, our family, and all our friends who have been with us since day one. Honestly, without their love, support, and those “you guys got this échenle ganas” moments we wouldn’t be here.

To our friends & family who were our first customers, who tasted every drink before it even hit the menu, and told us, “this needs to be out there”gracias. Y a nuestra familia y amigos that have popped up at our events just to lend a hand, even without being asked that kind of love hits different.

And of course, to our East LA community… ustedes hicieron esto posible. From lining up before we even open, to selling us out in just hours, to reposting our social medias and showing love you’ve turned our little dream into something so real. We’re forever grateful.

This isn’t just our journey, it’s all of ours. Gracias por creer en nosotros.
