Meet Elise Biscaro | Actor & Content Creator

We had the good fortune of connecting with Elise Biscaro and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Elise, the decisions we make often shape our story in profound ways. What was one of the most difficult decisions you’ve had to make?
I think the most difficult decision that I’ve ever had to make was to make the big move initially out to Los Angeles. I came out here from Western New York when I was 20 years old, not having any family, friends, or connections on this side of the country. Although I always knew that I would be moving out this way for work. It has been a major adjustment from seeing my family and neighbors daily to a few times a year. This may have been one of the most difficult decisions, but it was also the most important decision that I decided to make for myself and career. .

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I have been immersed in art and music for as long as I can remember. my mother named me Elise after the Beethoven song Für Elise and at age 6 she enrolled me into a Waldorf school, which for those who are not familiar, emphasize strongly on art, music, and outdoor education.
From 1st to 8th grade you’re taught and encouraged many hands on skills. As well as many different creative tools. In 8th grade our class performed 12th Night by Shakespeare and I got to play one of the female leads (Lady Olivia). I had so many lines that I didn’t even understand what 75% of them meant but I was beyond ecstatic highlighting, and memorizing them with my mom days leading up to the performance.
My passion for acting and for creating started there. In high school I participated in this thing called “Film Academy” which taught us how to write scripts, handle cameras and basic sound, and of course act and direct. I started to beg my mom to take me into NYC for Showcases where I got to compete for scholarships that helped me get to Events in NYC. She even did background on a couple smaller productions, because I needed a parent/guardian with me at the time! I knew from a very early age that this was something I wanted to do for the rest of my life and as I got older I really discovered the passion & drive behind it.
Growing up, I didn’t have many similar influences in the media or people that I could look up to. Having been adopted from Cambodia at such a young age I didn’t have much recollection of that part of my life but it’s something that is very sacred to me. For me, representing diversity has been something I’ve done unintentionally my entire life and if I can continue to do that in various ways within my work/art I’ll hopefully be able to influence others to go for and accomplish what they’d like to most in life, regardless of where they came from.
Over the past few years of working in this industry I have been blessed with some crazy opportunities. Some say this was the craziest and hardest time with COVID-19 and the strike, everything paused. But despite that all we are here and I know for me, the pause has motivated me even more. Last year one of my goals was to be in a Music Video and I ended up working 3. I’ve worked with A-List YouTubers, gotten to audition for things I never even knew about, and have signed more NDAs than my storage can even hold. As the new year begun, I’ve gotten to work on some fun projects in the film industry, and have been doing a lot in the content creation world! We have all been extremely grateful since the strike that lasted 118 days has finally ended. My agent and I have been working hard and auditions have been coming in. I’m predicting good things for this year!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
My best friend/cousin Emmy is actually visiting me this month and although she’s been here before we cannot help but do some of our favorites!! We are big outdoor/active people so we have planned a few hikes throughout the week. When she came up last year, we did the wisdom tree trail and the. Lois Ewen Loop. This time we have the Murphy Ranch Trail, The Hollywood sign hike, and Miller Canyon Falls planned! LA has been getting some rain recently so everything has been so green and gorgeous. After our hikes, we like to stop at one of the Ubatuba Açaí Bowl locations for a treat! (highly recommend). We will definitely be going tot he beaches since she lives in NY the sunny beaches is a full day activity. My favorite beaches are El Matador State Beach, Point Dume state beach, and of course Venice Beach/Santa Monica!! I just recently tried the boardwalks famous Fish Tacos and they were soooo good. A couple local favorites for drinks would be idle hour, ruby fruit, and Birrieria! Another couple things that we enjoyed to do during her visits include Swan Boats at Echo park lake, indoor rock climbing at Sender City, walking around the Getty Center, or exploring The Broad. LA has so many hidden gems and activities all my friends and family love to come visit me. One of the best things is being central to everything. We can go kayak at the beach, snowboard in the mountains, hike in the deserts, and catch shows in the city! Speaking of, we will definitely be going to a Comedy Club, and possible concert in one of the smaller Venues.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d like to dedicate my shoutout to my mother, who has been battling cancer for the past couple years I’ve been living out in LA. She has always been and will forever be my biggest support and my rock.
