We had the good fortune of connecting with Eliza Legzdina and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Eliza, what do you attribute your success to?
Relentless passion for my craft.

Even on my worst days I feel the need to explore interesting words that express the human experience. Music is this incredible all encompassing art form that is ubiquitous in the world, we don’t do anything without music . There’s joy as well as pressure in that. So with the pressure you have to be able to keep going to keep writing .

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m a music artist but really I’m a performing story teller. Music is the medium. It’s a tool, genre is just one of the instruments .

My art is really focused on the female lens because I think the experience of hyper femininity in a world where people are quickly judged for how attractive or accessible they are is something we continue to navigate with frustration.

So much absolutel fuckery happens in the world because of the way gender roles and expectations are set up .

I want to make art that feels like a sanctuary for feminine rage but also reflection.

I guess I always somewhere deep down knew that I would be a music artist I had dreams and fantasies as a little girl.

But I didn’t feel the capacity to do so until I finished my masters, I felt I needed to get real life stuff out of the way .
I’m very lucky for how quickly certain things worked out for me as I went along . One opportunity led to the next . I’m a bulldozer sometimes and I won’t stop until I get what’s mine ; I think my personality helped my career in that sense . None of this was a free ride. People believing talent is a huge part though!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If you come to London; I’ll probably take you for Vietnamese or Korean somewhere in Hoxton.

We may go Tate modern if we’re feeling artsy and maybe we go to a comedy club. London is the best for gigs and shows and it’s something you can’t help but fall into .

I would cook steak at home and steal a bottle of my housemates natural wine , sorry Iain.

We could smoke cigarettes and drink cocktails on broadway market or Dalston high street .

London is truly a living breathing organism that can offer so much if she doesn’t knock you off your feet .

The colour factory , house of Koko , Corsica , Peckham audio – there’s so many lovely places to listen to music and party and the sound systems bang.

You’d love it!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My mom , my family , who have continue to support me on my journey despite the precarious nature of creative.

Shoutout to all the people who have helped me along the way like Abir , Lauren, Pippa, Ilaria , and Jeremy .
