Meet Elizabeth Clark | Doula + Yoga Instructor

We had the good fortune of connecting with Elizabeth Clark and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Elizabeth, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
I truly believe the way someone brings their baby into the world, sets the stage for their entire experience as a parent. In helping bring babies earth side with parents who are educated and empowered, I believe that we are helping make systemic changes for the future. Modern America’s birth system is not set to help the birthing person or families. In fact, we have one the worst maternal mortality rates in the world. I believe by helping mamas-to-be learn their rights, learn their bodies, and feel empowered to make choices around their birth, they are paving the way for a future generation.
What should our readers know about your business?
Looma Birth is a full service doula collective based in Long Beach, CA and serving almost all of LA and OC. This collective was born from a desire to provide exceptional care for our expecting families; where their family is supported by our family. We are a small, tight knit team of highly educated doulas who are passionate about empowering families to find their truth surrounding birth. We really aren’t just a group of doulas – we are a family of doulas who want to help take care of your family. We truly desire to spoil our clients and walk their journey with them. While you are paired with a specific doula per your choosing, we are all there cheering you on, and stepping in if the extra help is needed.
We provide a range of services to elevate the pregnancy, birth, and postpartum time in a family. From Prenatal Yoga to birth education, to overnight postpartum doula work and new mama circles, we believe in education, support, and community are key factors to make the transition. Elizabeth is at the helm of Looma Birth’s Workshops and Classes, taking her almost 10 years of experience and sharing with our clients while our small team of doulas provide birth and postpartum services.
Looma Birth was founded by Elizabeth. After having a solo doula career for years, she wanted to work collaboratively with other birth workers who believe in the unconditional support for families that she does. She wanted to be able to provide reliable back up support for her clients in the small chance it was needed. From there, things have grown organically, adding in new doulas as word of mouth spreads about us.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We Love Long Beach! We’d start on 2nd street at Colossus enjoying coffee and baked goods before walking over to Rosie’s Beach and enjoying the dogs and the waves. From there, we might have to check in at The Hangout in Retro Row and refuel ourselves at WEOP.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I couldn’t do Looma Birth without the incredible, amazing, awesome doulas who make up the Looma Birth Family. It truly is a collective and team effort behind the scenes. I am so lucky to be surrounded by such nourishing. loving individuals. Shout out to Aubrey who has stepped with me as we move from a partnership to a collective. Shout out to Raylene who came onboard as I welcomed my third baby and has just RUN with it. Shout out to Kayla who covers our LA territory and is such a resource for our mamas with herbs and teas. And a shout out to our new members who are joining us to build awareness, spread love, and help us elevate and empower more families around birth.
