We had the good fortune of connecting with Elizabeth King and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Elizabeth, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
The idea of my Fertility Coaching business came up after my own experience with fertility. After getting divorced at age 30 I went to freeze my eggs and I was told to come back later if I was still single…so at age 36, still single I went back…I did IVF on my own to freeze eggs as an insurance policy not knowing if I would be meeting Mr. Right any time soon…At age 39 I was diagnosed with fibroids that were in a location that would be preventing me to conceive. I met my now husband, had surgery to remove the fibroids and started our own journey…We got pregnant after my healing from my surgery. We had a healthy baby. After that we had our first miscarriage…and this is where my 10 year Life Coaching evolved into Fertility Coaching. I was at the clinic in the bed getting prepped for my D&C surgery to literally have this baby that I just lost and not only the baby but we were also mourning the loss of the story we had written as soon as we had the positive pregnancy test. We were at the lowest low…the couple in bay next to us was at their high…we could hear their excitement about their upcoming retrieval and starting their IVF journey. In my heart I was so excited for them but it was then that I realized that couples going through this journey need help. Fertility and or infertility is unlike anything anyone expects to experience. The reality is that 1 in 8 Americans experience Infertility and 1 in 4 suffer from miscarriage loss. I made it my mission in life to help men and women conceive and calmly navigate infertility with more confidence so they can build the family of dreams and get to their positive pregnancy test sooner or find the path to parenthood that is right for them.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I have been an entrepreneur in the Hi-Tech Corporate Event Marketing space for over 20 years so have been very fortunate in the amazing clients I have had and opportunities. Being a Certified Life Coach along side of that business has been allowed me to also do something as a profession that was more heart-centered and allowed me to be able to really affect people and how they live their life and show up in the world. Since transforming my general Life Coaching business to be more focused on fertility the growth has been incredible because there is such a need in our country to help others through this process. I am invested in everyone of my clients on a deep level and it is my mission to help them get to their goal. We would together from a holistic picture of looking at all aspects of their lives and what may be blocking them from conceiving or finding their perfect path to parenthood. We work together with the physical, lifestyle, nutrition, mental and spiritual aspects in order to determine what is best for each individual. Everyone is different so I tailor my coaching for each individual.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would spend as much time in beautiful areas…One of my favorite spots during Covid has been Elephante Beach House in Santa Monica. You are indoors yet it is all open and you feel like you are outside. There is such a great vibe at any time of day. I also love going up to the Gerry museum and hanging out there for the day and grabbing some snacks and a bottle of wine and hanging out on the property. The Annenberg photography exhibit always has lots of fun exhibits happening and it is small and easy to pop in there for an hour or so then head to dinner after. I would also tell someone to head down to Orange County. Cruise around Laguna Beach, go to Las Brisas on the cliff and walk downtown Laguna. There is so much to do and see in a week in LA and OC. Both are so different, I would suggest if you have 7 days, 5 in LA and 2 in OC!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My biggest shoutout, my husband who has always been my biggest supporter in all that I do but especially in my coaching business because he understands the void that is there for the couples in the world that desperately need help and he is so happy to see their success in building their families. I would love to shoutout to the entrepreneur community and the online fertility community that motivated me to support and serve them.
