We had the good fortune of connecting with Elizabeth Seaford and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Elizabeth, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
When my oldest son was born, he had such sensitive skin and anything would cause him to have “rashies” or itchy skin. My husband and I tried everything there was that claimed to be made for sensitive skin and made for babies and we never found anything that worked. As a new mom, I felt hopeless that nothing was working. I was talking to a good friend of mine who was also a new mom and has eczema herself, and she recommended me trying breastmilk soap. At that time I was already doing milk baths for my son but I had never heard of breastmilk soap. I dove in on the research about breastmilk soap and the benefits it has on the skin and overall health. I tried over a dozen different recipes that I found online and none of them really worked so I created my own recipe and that’s all we have used since. At first it was just for my son and a few friends that had eczema themselves or their children, then one day my husband said I should try to fully do this as a business so I did and I just haven’t looked back.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I create breastmilk soap to help heal skin ailments including eczema, dry skin, sensitive skin, psoriasis, acne scars and more. I feel what sets me apart from others is when I was growing up I had sensitive skin as well and I know the pain from it and just wanting relief. I made sure that everything I create is hypoallergenic and safe for all skin types and all ages. I only use the highest quality of natural ingredients to provide the best possible solution for my customers. I also developed a Skin Therapy Lotion the helps heal the skin deep within the cells. It helps improve scars and stretch marks as well as improves overall skin health without leaving you feeling greasy or sticky. Last fall, I launched a Milky Bath Salt line and a Soothing Suds (bubble bath) line to help mom remember to take time for themselves to relax and re-center. I feel overall health is so crucial for everyone and wanted to provide a one stop shop for people to have healing self-care.

The journey to get to where I am today has not been an easy one but defiantly worth it! I had my first job when I was 17 and have been working since. I got a softball scholarship to go to a junior college and I was pursuing a Child Development degree. I got injured my first year and had to stop playing but still went to school. I experienced some hardship with my family and I needed to work full-time to help out and I got a job at In-N-Out and worked there for over 3 years. I have also worked as an infant and toddler teacher at a preschool where I found my passion for Sign Language and went to Mt. SAC to get my Sign Language Interpreting degree. I was set to graduate Fall of 2020… welp we all know what happened in the world at that time and with my new degree I couldn’t find work without risking myself my newborn and my family by being out in the public. This was when my husband encouraged me to go all in on the business. I am so grateful for all the “stepping stones” I like to call them that got me here today. I am thankful for the grit, hard work and customer service I learned from In-N-Out. I’m grateful for getting injured and knowing that when one door closes, many more open. I am in a weird way grateful for 2020 for allowing this path and breastmilk venture to come into my life and in turn giving back to everyone else in need.

I am a tried and true helper by nature. I feel I was put on this earth to do what I can to make sure people that I come into contact with leave happier and with value, then before meeting me. I have been told that I come off very rainbows and unicorns but I think kindness needs to be spread all over the world. I actually have a sign at all my pop-ups that had “Be a Kind Human” printed on it. Just as a reminder that kindness is free and helps in every situation. I hope people take away from me knowledge, empowerment and kindness and perseverance. it is never to late to follow your dream and never ever settle.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
My family loves to go to the Zoo! Even before we had kids, my husbands and I would go to the zoo in what ever city we would be in. Now that we have kids we love going to the Orange County zoo in Irvine Regional Park or the San Diego zoo. We also love to go to vintage thrift stores so I would definitely take them to Treasure’s ‘N Junk off San Antonio just south of Holt. I would book a demonstration for Logan’s Candy, which is a family owned candy shop since 1933. I would pamper my friend at THE BEST SPA EVER, Salt Oasis that offers salt therapy in their salt caves and massages. To eat we would definitely make appearances at Vince’s Spaghetti, Iron Skillet and The Riverside Grill.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have to first thank my husband Andrew, for not only encouraging me to follow this path that I am so passionate about but he also takes our boys when I work or have pop-up shows. My family has been extremely supportive and come to all the events I have and help out in my booth. I have to shout out my amazing friends Adriana and Caitlyn who gave me my pop-up “big break” by having me at their amazing events when I decided to start doing pop-ups a year ago. I’m so appreciative for them for trusting me and my mission for helping people heal their skin.
