We had the good fortune of connecting with Elli Moore and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Elli, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?
My current favorite quote/affirmation I heard from drag queen icon Trixie Mattel on her all star season of RuPaul’s Drag Race. “It’s ok to have butterflies in your stomach, you just have to teach them how to fly in formation.” I like this because think this really speaks to how scary it can be to dive into chasing your dreams. I think the hardest part of any dream can be believing you are meant to achieve it. I think when you have butterflies in your stomach it means you care so deeply and you are feeling the weight of how important this dream is to you. So when you can harness those butterflies to help you fly, you can go anywhere.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am very proud of the music I’ve created and am planning on releasing in 2022, I think it really aligns with who I am and represents me well to those who haven’t met me yet. I don’t think I could ever sum up any creative journey as easy but I will say I’ve had a lot of fun making music in my life so getting to this point is super fulfilling creatively. A lesson I’ve learned along the way has been, that nothing is ever perfect, done or finished. Which is a really hard concept to swallow as a perfectionist so I do struggle at times when I’m in the vocal booth trying to get the perfect performance for a song because to me I can always get a better take than the last, I’m sure I drive my collaborators nuts! I would really hope people take away from my story is that I am just a normal person with stories similar to a lot of people my age, I’m living my life like a diary because I’m such an open book.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I have some favorite spots around LA however, my current obsession is Hanks Bagels- they have a Rosemary Sea Salt bagel that I am convinced can cure any hangover. I love going to Malibu country mart – I think it’s a must for any first timers. Last but certainly not least the strip in WEHO, best night out of your life.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I am really fortunate to work with a team of 3 individuals who put their everything into creating my music with me so I’d like to give a shoutout to Alina Smith, Gino Barletta and Scott Bruzenak! We’ve all been friends and collaborators for years and without them my music would not be the same.
