We had the good fortune of connecting with Elvia Guadian and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Elvia, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking.
I have overcome the fear of risk by aggressively protecting the important things in life that I value the most (health, family… ) from the superfluous. That way if things go wrong I wouldn´t have lost anything. In my career by having faith in myself, my skills and continuously updating knowledge has helped me a lot to take action, but also understanding and accepting my failures is been a big step to cultivate my rational skills and just focus on the areas I value the most.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I think what sets me apart from others is that I live my life according to what I like to do, what it feels right and what I enjoy doing. A little over 11 years ago, 20 year old me decided to travel the world tattooing. Since then, I attended numerous conventions and tattoo events around the world. I`m so proud of how far I`ve come as a person and artist but I`m even more excited to see where my profession and brand `From Mexico with love´ will go!. I really appreciate each client, order, positive words, sharing info or simply believing in me.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Right now I´m living in Guadalajara in Mexico and its awesome!!. The people, the climate and the food is great, and showing the city its so fun. First of all, Guadalajara has some of the best food in Mexico hands down. Sea food, street food, regional cuisine, tacos, birria…. anytime. Then is a must to visit the town of Tequila. Guadalajara is situated just 45 min from Tequila town, meaning that we can take a day trip to the blue agave fields and see the tequila production process and obviously drink some. Guadalajara has a great night life and is the birth place of the country’s most representative music in Mexico, Mariachi. So you can count on many nights with tequila, mariachi and good food. The surrounding areas are famous for its artisans , where you will found fine ceramics, blown glass, brass, copper, leather, is the perfect area for shopping. And my favorite it’s a night at a lucha libre event (mexican wrestling). Literally there’s endless things to do here to keep you busy.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I will credit the success in my life to my family, mentors and friends in my life. It because of my family support that I moved forward in following my dream. They were really supportive, patience and tolerated my long absences while I travelled internationally. My mentors played a very important role in my path selection. And also they motivated me to pursue the tattoo style that I liked and that I now I specialize in. And it´s been a blessing to have very supportive and honest friends through good and difficult times in life.
