Meet Elysabeth Lamoureux | Travel Blogger

We had the good fortune of connecting with Elysabeth Lamoureux and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Elysabeth, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I started traveling internationally back around 2021 and absolutely loved it the first country I went to, besides Mexico and Canada, was Italy with a girlfriend of mine. After that I started to realize that Traveling brought me a lot of joy and made me feel more fulfilled as a person. The idea that I could go somewhere and learn about things that are completely different than when I grew up around him to see them first hand for myself to make my own thoughts and ideas from what I’m personally experiencing versus what other people have experienced with something that I really enjoyed and that I really love about traveling. So about a year ago around the time that I had about 10 countries that I had traveled to I started to feel inclined to share what I had learned in my thoughts and how to travel while also working full-time and how to balance everything while also being a mindful and thoughtful traveler/tourist. It took me a long time before I finally made the push to start travel blogging and try to get into this industry because I didn’t really feel confident at first that anyone would care what I had to say but then I realized that I was getting so many questions and having some really interesting conversations with people just by talking about other countries which really made me realize that people want to travel and they want to know and if I don’t try I’ll never know.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Professionally I still work in healthcare as a nurse, i’m currently trying to balance full-time work in healthcare with the start of this travel blog that I created, Travel With Ely. So that itself has been interesting to navigate. Professionally I’ve worked out a few different hospitals and I’ve always worked in the intensive care unit which can be very draining mentally and emotionally how do you say a lot and I would say that Traveling was one of those things that made it so I have something to look forward to kind of like a light that was there to bring happiness into my life when there was things going on at work. That definitely pushed me towards wow traveling makes me so happy why am I not doing this full-time why am I not trying to make this my life when it makes me so happy and brings me so much joy and fulfillment. Not to say that working in healthcare does not bring me joy and fulfillment as well, it definitely has its moments where it is a very rewarding job but it also has a lot of moments where it really tears you down mentally and emotionally and physically. I’m still learning kind of how to navigate this new world of travel blogging and how to make it something that is a source of income so that I can go from working full-time in the hospital to working part time or as needed so that I can focus more on the travel blog and traveling into it when I enjoy. Still at the beginning steps of this so it’s been Learning how to create a website in which a ride about and how to do everything online.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If one of my friends came to visit in LA, there’s definitely a few spots I’d take them for sure to get an overall experience in the city. I’d personally start by having a relaxing glass of wine and dinner at Vino’s in studio city after picking them up from the dreaded LAX. One of my favorite pastry shops is pretty close to where I stay so we’d definitely stop by Porto’s Bakery for breakfast and drinks. Another yummy spot for breakfast is Mercado Buenos Aires, which serves up delicious food all day long, fresh meats and pastries. It’s a little out in the valley but worth the drive. As far as things to do, when in LA how could you skip taking someone to Venice or Santa Monica to enjoy the sandy beach and touristic atmosphere. For lunch or snacks I’d take them to Sunny Blue for some onigiri that’s freshly made to order. Another favorite of mine is Runyon Cannon. I enjoy doing the more trail like parts instead of the cement walk but it’s worth checking out and getting some exercise in the city. If they came during the summer I’d try to plan a night at the Hollywood bowl and do a small picnic or try to catch a play in the park near Griffith Park. For the rest I’d really just take them around the smaller neighborhoods like Little Tokyo, K-Town and China town to walk around and try smaller mom and pop restaurants. Those usually have the best foods in my opinion.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There are definitely a lot of people that pushed me to actually start this endeavor and to make me feel comfortable sharing my experiences and thoughts. I’d say one of the biggest pushes came from my really good longtime friend Wayne who has just been really supportive and very helpful in navigating this transition from working a more traditional job to trying to become a full-time travel blogger. I saw a huge shout out to him for all of his help and kindness. I would also have to say that the very near and dear person Aisha Allen has always been supportive of the idea that I wanted to kind of create a space to support other travelers and bring people together and start a travel blog and she’s always been very do it do it push it like just don’t let anyone tell you no kind of thing. She’s been a great influence on my life.
