We had the good fortune of connecting with Elysia Whitis and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Elysia, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I started Ollovus because I wanted to be able to help more people on their healing journey and having my own private practice wasn’t going to reach as many people as I could by really forming a community. This business means so much more to me than I can even put into words. My goal is to bring healing, health, and wellness to more individuals throughout the country and eventually, the world. So, for me, starting my own business started with really defining my intentions and the type of impact I am aiming to make on the lives of others.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Ollovus is an app that is centered around the alternative health and wellness community. Our goal is to make holistic health care more affordable, accessible, and inclusive. Our emphasis is on being inclusive with the community because we believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to heal. We care about the individuality of the healers and put the power of education into the hands of our wellness experts, allowing them the freedom to share their stories and knowledge with the world.
So, people who join the app and are looking for an alternative wellness practitioner can easily connect and book with them, explore different healing modalities and learn about various forms of alternative medicine. Practitioners joining the platform can advertise their services, post educational content, and keep track of their business analytics.
Additionally, we host free monthly events featuring different healers and have a whole library of free resources on our website for people to gain access to. From guided meditations, to sound bowls, to yoga in the park, there’s something for everybody.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’ve been in LA for 8 years now and absolutely love a good rooftop bar/ restaurant so, Elephante in Santa Monica is really cute and so is Mama Shelter in Hollywood! Redondo and Huntington beach are some of my favorite beaches to visit, along with Malibu ~ I love sitting on the beach to relax and enjoy a good book or write in my gratitude journal and if anyone is looking for a healer, yoga instructor, massage therapist, chiropractor, etc. you can find them on the Ollovus app and easily request to book them there!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My personal wellness journey began over 5 years ago when I met a shaman who helped me heal through the many struggles I endured in my childhood and beyond. His name is Hagop Takvorian and he changed my life for the better. By helping me through the healing journey, I was able to work through the troubles of my past so that I could show up today happier, more peaceful, and in a healthier state of mind, body and soul. After I began my own personal journey, the desire for me to share this incredible gift with others became stronger and stronger. It was apparant that I also had the capability to help others heal as well. And so, Hagop began teaching me how to practice shamanism and eventually, I came across reiki and fell in love with that. I now practice intuitive reiki when I’m not working on the Ollovus app. It’s been beautiful being able to share this practice with others and building this community of healers who are on the same journey, to make the world a better place. Because just like the saying goes that “hurt people, hurt people”, I also believe that healed people, heal people too.
