Meet Emil Diaz | Dancer & Choreographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Emil Diaz and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Emil, let’s talk legacy – what do you want yours to be?
I want people to look at me and feel like they can chase their own goals and dreams too. I want them to feel inspired to go after what they really want. Like, if they see me and think, ‘Hey, if he could do it, maybe I can too. I can be disciplined, I can put in the work.’ That’s the kind of impact I want to have.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Dance, for me, is my passion, my work, and my way of life. It’s incredible, and every day I try to improve something in myself — both as an artist and as a person. I want to share the message with people from less developed countries that there is a path for them, there is a place for them — but they have to go out and claim it. It’s hard coming from a small city where the government doesn’t support you and opportunities are limited, but it’s possible if you’re willing to work for it

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend came to visit for a week, I’d definitely make sure they had the best time ever. I’d start by showing them some of my favorite local food spots, e’d definitely hit some dance studios too, either to take a class or just watch — especially if they’re into movement like I am, maybe to Movement lifestyle studio that’s my favorite

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I am the person I am today thanks to my parents’ hard work and the example set by my older siblings, who guided me through my first steps in the world of dance.
