We had the good fortune of connecting with Emily Beliveau and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Emily, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Embarking on my qigong business journey came very naturally. Unlike other life ventures, this one just seemed to flow effortlessly from one stage to the next.

My introduction to Medical Qigong happened in 2017 when I sought healing from my Qigong Grandmaster. Fast forward to 2020, and I found myself eagerly diving into practitioner training and academic study. Those years were a personal exploration of my energy body, uncovering the potent healing capabilities of this ancient practice.

At the age of 10, I received a liver transplant, and it was during this qigong journey that I began peeling back layers of grief, anger, and pain that had quietly nestled within me for years. Through this deep healing process, I started to observe subtle and not so subtle changes in myself, my reactions, and my life choices.

As my energetic abilities continued to evolve, I became inspired by my own transformative experiences and felt compelled to share this powerful medicine with others. In 2021, I embraced significant lifestyle changes, including abstaining from alcohol, relocating to California, and officially launching my business, Qi on the Beach. Over the past few years, my business has grown organically. I find so much joy in this practice and I look forward to assisting more people in their own healing journeys.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?

My business, Qi on the Beach, provides 1:1 medical qigong healing sessions and qigong movement classes. What distinguishes my business from other energy healing practices is its grounded and academically based approach to something typically perceived as more mystical. While energy healing is undoubtedly magical, there is also scientific evidence supporting it. The study of quantum physics and biology is unveiling what ancients knew thousands of years ago. For instance, quantum mechanics teaches us that the choice of where we put our attention is an act of creation in itself—an intersection of ancient wisdom and modern science that I find incredibly exciting!

Over the past 9 years, I’ve navigated my career in corporate America, dedicating the last 3 years to simultaneously managing my corporate job and developing my Medical Qigong business. Along this journey, my relationship with change has transformed. Previously resistant to change and someone who seeks comfort in stability and planning, I’ve come to accept that everything is in a perpetual state of change. I now do my best to approach uncertainties with trust and curiosity, recognizing that every experience presents a lesson and an opportunity for growth. This evolving perspective on change makes life’s journey fascinating, unique, and invigorating. Just five years ago, I never anticipated having a thriving Medical Qigong practice, yet every twist, turn, and change has led me to this point, and for that, I am incredibly grateful.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend were visiting the Los Angeles area, my first stop would be the beach. Having grown up on the east coast, I still find the palm tree-lined, expansive sandy beaches here truly awe-inspiring. En route to the beach, we’d make a pit stop at Dogtown in Ocean Park, Santa Monica, to grab a coffee and burrito. Of course, we wouldn’t miss the opportunity to stay for sunset. Our itinerary would also feature a hike in Malibu, indulging in delicious ice cream at Manhattan Beach Creamery, and taking a leisurely stroll along Abbot Kinney.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I dedicate my shoutout to my dear friend, Larell Scardelli. Our friendship began during our freshman year as college roommates, and we’ve been supporting each other through numerous experiences and transformations ever since. It was through Larell in 2017 that I was first introduced to holistic medicine and qigong. I am profoundly grateful for her ongoing wisdom and guidance.
