We had the good fortune of connecting with Emily Dorrien Flynn and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Emily, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Bottom line, f i’m not taking risks, I’m not growing. And my intention in life & business is to always strive to BE MORE and to make a bigger impact in peoples lives + in this world.
I’ve found that my greatest opportunities for growth and learning have been in taking risks. You know what’s even scarier to me than all the “what ifs” that come with taking a leap of faith … is treading water inside my comfort zone.
Discomfort is the prerequisite for growth. It’s this simple sentence that has helped me turn anxiety & fear into excitement + determination!
What should our readers know about your business?
I’m a Certified Personal Trainer, Nutrition Expert, Holistic Health Coach & Behavior Change Specialist. I have dedicated over 11 years to helping people realize their true potential so they can overcome just about anything and learn how to take control of their health, habits + mindset so they can live out their most fulfilling, productive & VIBRANT lives!
As an Entrepreneur, Wife and Mom – I know that finding balance amongst the chaos can be challenging. So my PURPOSE is to help other Super-Achievers OPTIMIZE their health & wellbeing, with ease.
Wellness is my passion, but it hasn’t always been my reality:
I’ve faced my share of challenges, setbacks and failures, from overcoming eating disorders & depression, to the diagnosis of fibromyalgia and suffering a stress induced seizure. However it was these experiences that inspired me to spend the last decade building my understanding of how best to help myself and others like me.
My past does not define me and instead I have learned to use my setbacks as stepping stones and with each small improvement I bring myself closer to my life purpose. Through small shifts in habits, values, nutrition and mindset I have come back stronger and wiser each time!
And after all this I find myself here, in front of you, on a mission to help other’s with intensely demanding schedules navigate their own unique set of obstacles, to overcome their fears and realize their potential to live a happy, healthy and RADIANT life!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
A day in Hollywood, some lunch, shopping & maybe a drink or two on Melrose Ave.
Universal City + a day trip to Beverly Hills is always a fun time 😉
I personally love nature, sunshine, space + healthy food – so, hoppin’ over to Topanga State Park for a hike, followed by a delicious dinner at Erewhon is a perfect day to me.
We gotta make sure there’s time for THE BEACH! Grabbing a bowl + superfood latte on Earth Bar in Santa Monica and walking the pier is a great So Cal experience!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
We all need Mentors in life, those who can guide us in the areas we need to most support. Those who pave the way, as proof of WHAT IS POSSIBLE.
