We had the good fortune of connecting with Emily Morgan Martorano and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Emily Morgan, can you share the most important lesson you’ve learned over the course of your career?
Starting a nutrition private practice from scratch has not been a walk in the park. It’s required time, effort, patience and thinking outside the box. The MOST important lesson I’ve learned from creating a successful private practice is establishing and maintaining strong relationships with my clients. With every client I get, I show with 100% of my attention. By taking the time to really get to know them by developing a personal relationship with hem and being there for them (not only during nutrition sessions) has allowed me to grow and expand my clientele. Not only does this produce better health results for my clients, but it has given me positive reviews and feedback to continue to improve my practice! Getting to help clients meet their goals and improve their help is the main reason I started my practice and I remind myself that everyday.
What should our readers know about your business?
I started my nutrition private practice, Emily Morgan Nutrition in 2021. I created my practice to help individuals struggling with their weight and health issues, specifically for those unsure of what to do or what will work for them. Many of my clients had previously attempted restrictive diets, found success for a short amount of time and then regained back the weight, plus more! What makes my nutrition coaching practice unique is that we focus on realistic & sustainable changes that help clients not only lose weight and improve their health, but keep it off! As a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist, I have the knowledge to teach my clients about the science behind nutrition and food. This way, I can teach my clients the WHY behind recommendations, so that they can continue to improve their diets and lifestyles once our work together has completed.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Living in the Bay Area of San Francisco, there is so much to do and see. First, we would start off with a hike overlooking Golden Gate Bridge. Photo opportunities galore! After a scenic drive on the Golden Gate Bridge, we would spend the day exploring the city of San Fran. I love walking around the Marina and exploring Chinatown. We would have to get a Mojito coffee from Philz (a must have!) and stop for some matcha ice cream in Japan town. After an activity filled day in San Fran, the next day I’d take my friends to the Palo Alto Farmers Market where I could nerd out about all of the amazing, local produce. Then, we would take our delicious produce and create a healthy, delicious meal to eat on one of the beautiful beaches on the coast.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to all of my amazing nutrition clients, both past, current and future clients! They are the reason I am able to wake up everyday to do what I love, while making a positive impact in their lives.
