We had the good fortune of connecting with Emilynn Rose and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Emilynn, how do you think about risk?
Life is scary but when you choose to overcome it, you realize it is amazing and full of opportunities.

If I had never taken the risk of becoming a photographer, I would always be left wondering, “What if I did?” I started my journey without having much. I packed up my stuff at 19 years old in my almost-broken-down car, had $2000 to my name, and started my new life in Hollywood, Los Angeles. There was a time where I had no direction; I was a troublemaker. Photography was a choice that I had to make, to create a new life for myself, and I’m so glad that I did. Now, years later, I’m living my best life, financially secure, and able to share it with my family and those around me.

Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
What sets me apart is my eye. I do believe I have a distinct taste of shooting female in a way that is empowering, and also my use of colors! I am most proud of my journey, as I think back of what it took to get me where I am today, I am proud that I started the journey of becoming a photographer. It wasn’t an easy journey, but I had to push myself to keep going in those down times. It still happens today, where I don’t feel content in where I am, but I just keep pushing forward and I keep learning and thinking of ways on how I can keep doing better! Something I’ve learned in this journey is to never give up. As cliche as it sounds, if I’ve given up every time something got hard, I wouldn’t be where I am. Also, to always find the excitement in what you do, because it’s not always fun, it is work as well, but it’s up to you to always stay inspired and to find the joy and remember why you’re doing this in the first place!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Some of my favorite spots in the city are hidden LA iconic areas to shoot at. For example, Sepulveda Bridge, LA River, and city over looks in Griffith Park. The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would never be here without the love and endless support of my mom, business partner, Mandy, and my team at Rose Studios. Without each and every one of them, I would never be able to juggle both lives.
