Meet Emma Evans | Producer & Model

We had the good fortune of connecting with Emma Evans and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
It is so challenging to work professionally as a creative person for many reasons. As a model and actor, the weirdest part of the business is that your body is the product. When I am writing and directing films, it can be difficult to share work when it’s very personal, and you don’t know how it will be received. As a producer and businesswoman, you must carve your own path.
Often times you have to rely on and encourage yourself to persevere and achieve a solid outcome. When it comes to producing a creative project, whether a show, film, music video, or other, there are many possibilities for where it could go from there, but often not a guarantee. It takes constant education and determination to beat out competition and excel in the craft not only creatively but logistically as well. It’s a full time job working in entertainment, which is why you have to love it to make it your career.
My favorite thing about it is the people that I come to know along the way. I’ve also been lucky to interact with many different businesses through the jobs I’ve worked and the jobs I’ve created. As someone who does not love routine, it is exciting for things to be constantly changing in my work. I desire to work in many different industries in my life, and welcome all opportunities to soak in knowledge from experts around me.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
In LA, some of my favorite spots are: for restaurants – Elephante, Koi, Le Petit Four. I love to thrift, so the best shopping for that is on Melrose and in Santa Monica. I’m a regular at the Century City mall, which really has everything you could possibly need during a day out. I don’t often go to the beach because I’m very sun-sensitive but Malibu is great. Finally, for nightlife I enjoy Santa Monica bars/clubs or the occasional night in West Hollywood – although I got robbed there twice, so it’s not my favorite anymore.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My story has many different parts, so there are numerous people to thank.
This year, my modeling career has been taking off. For that, I have to thank Dallas photographer Carlos Vincent, among others. Carlos and I have worked together since I was in high school and he has always been a loyal friend, sharing advice, and giving me opportunities. He helped me get signed with an agency I was with for a while in Dallas, and took my digitals that got me signed now with a bigger agency in LA. I’m always grateful to him for his help and wisdom.
On the entertainment side of my life, I’ve been interning in LA and working on my production company, Neon Shark Media, in the background. So much of my success as a filmmaker is due to Xai Homechan, who has been a mentor and friend to me for many years now. While my focus has been on modeling and acting for a few months now, Xai played a big part in my development on that side as well. Before we began producing projects together, he was my acting coach, and we did multiple photoshoots together too.
I live and work in LA now but I’ll forever be connected to my creative roots in Dallas. So many important things happened there and the people that came into my life have stayed present even now on the west coast.
A big thanks is definitely in order for my parents as well. They always have my back, which I am very thankful for.
