We had the good fortune of connecting with Emma Rose – Iamemma and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Emma Rose – IAMEMMA, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I started singing when I was just six years old. Music has always been a safe space for me—a place where I can truly express myself. As I grew up, I began vocal training and immersed myself in musical theater. In high school, I joined Powerhouse Show Choir, which was inspired by Glee, and traveled across the country performing. One of the most memorable moments in my journey was performing a major solo at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville.

Eventually, I was accepted into USC’s Thornton School of Music, where I began writing songs and performing gigs with friends. Music has become my source of comfort and peace. When I’m in the studio writing, I feel like I can forget about everything else and just focus on the art.

Through my music, I aim to inspire others to relate to what I’ve been through. A lot of my songs are about heartbreak, reflecting the challenges and hardships I’ve faced. My goal is to share my story with those who have experienced similar struggles. My upcoming song is all about empowerment—how I emerged as a stronger woman from the pain of my past. It’s my message to other women to encourage them to leave toxic relationships and find their own strength.

I get to be myself when I perform, and that’s all I ever want.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’ve always had an old soul when it comes to music. From a young age, I was drawn to the timeless voices of Aretha Franklin, Etta James, The Rolling Stones, Nina Simone, and so many more. Their raw emotion and authenticity deeply inspired me, shaping the way I connect with music today.

When it comes to creating, I thrive in the moment. I prefer to walk into the studio with a blank slate, letting my current emotions guide the writing process. There’s something powerful about capturing feelings as they come—raw, honest, and real.

After college, I dedicated time to writing music and working on myself. That journey led me to recently finish one of my first official releases. My debut single, Not That Girl, drops next week on all platforms. It’s a deeply personal song about emerging as a stronger woman after the pain of a toxic relationship.

Every song I release is rooted in truth—no fabricated stories, just honest experiences. I believe authenticity is what sets me apart as an artist. I want listeners to feel that honesty in every lyric and melody.

My journey hasn’t been without challenges. Mental health struggles have been a significant part of my story, but they’ve also made me stronger and fueled my creativity. Life tests all of us, but instead of letting those hardships break us, we can use them to rise even stronger.

The biggest lessons I’ve learned? Never let others’ judgments define you. Don’t allow someone else’s success to diminish your own. And always, always be willing to step outside your comfort zone.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take my best friend to Malibu to sit at the beach and take a nice drive during sunset. For dinner I would like to take them to my favorite Italian restaurant Ca Del Sol. After dinner I would love to hit the Roxy to watch some live music and chill out! LA has the best live music in my opinion and the Roxy always has the best shows! For dessert I always like to go to Happy Days for warm waffles with ice cream.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’m incredibly grateful to my parents for always pushing me and supporting me throughout my music career. Their unwavering belief in me has been a constant source of strength.

I’d also like to thank USC’s Thornton School of Music for inspiring me to continually improve my writing, singing, performance, and career goals. USC has taught me the importance of taking action and embracing the mindset that there’s always room for growth in my journey as an artist.
