We had the good fortune of connecting with Emma Wagner and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Emma, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
From a very young age when asked what I would want to do later in life, I always said I wanted to be the boss. When I became a Chiropractor, I worked for one year for a DC in Palo Alto, CA, which was a wonderful experience. Then, with Burton, my now husband, we decided to move to France and start a practice there. We first looked for a place we wanted to live and then decided to open an office in a town called Arcachon, which is south of Bordeaux. There were no other chiropractic offices in that town, so opening our own practice was an easy decision. Then. 1.5 years later, we bought a chiropractic clinic in the city of Pau from a French and American couple that we met when we arrived in France. It was a satellite office for them, and our practice was growing slowly as most French people at that time didn’t even know what chiropractic was about. When we moved back to California 10 years ago, we gained experience in how we wanted to practice and what worked for us. We had gotten used to being the boss. It was natural to think about starting a practice again and then expanding into a wellness center.

What should our readers know about your business?
Burton and I own the San Clemente Vitality Center. It is a holistic health center where we help individuals and families heal and regain their health and vitality. We also help them optimize their function, so it is about them being at their best and not just recovering from a problem. It’s a mix between:

– a medical-spa with different therapies to enhance the function of the body
– and a wellness office that has a few practitioners working in synergy

We use gentle tonal chiropractic, energy healing, and other types of bodywork. We also work with different techniques that employ The Power of the Mind to release emotional traumas/blocks and negative mental patterns.

We have earned a 5-star rating by doing what we love and treating our patients as we would like to be treated. Our approach sets us apart from most mainstream offices, which are enjoyable in some ways and challenging in others. We’ve discovered that the more joy we find in our work, the better our results and the greater our revenue.

We take great pride in creating personalized programs for our clients, offering a unique blend of different modalities to help them live with vitality. At the San Clemente Vitality Center, we work with the whole person—body, mind, and soul—seeing you as an individual, not just a condition to be treated.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
San Clemente is a destination location, known as the Spanish village by the sea. Spending a week here would be filled with fun and relaxation. We would enjoy home-cooked meals on the patio overlooking the ocean. I love to cook and often use vegetables from my garden to create sumptuous meals. We’d definitely visit the beach several times, ideally at low tide when there’s plenty of beach to walk barefoot in the cool water and search for sea glass along the shore. We might also stroll down to the pier and visit Fisherman’s Restaurant, where we can enjoy a delicious meal and drinks while sitting above the water, watching the waves, or perhaps a beautiful sunset.

For lunch, I’d take you to one of the organic vegetarian restaurants in town and to Kawamata, the best poke bowl spot in San Clemente and a local favorite. I also enjoy dining at Nalu’s Hawaiian Fish Grill. Since it’s summer, we would spend Saturday night with our feet in the sand, grilling and enjoying BBQ on the beach. Additionally, we would go line dancing at our neighbor’s place or a local club, as it’s our latest passion.

We would take you sailing from Dana Point, the neighboring town. If we’re feeling adventurous, we could go on a two-day trip to Catalina Island. For more excitement, we could go ziplining in Skull Canyon, or if you prefer hiking, we’d take you to the Top of the World.

My family would likely want to visit Legoland, Sea World, Disneyland, or the Aquarium in Long Beach, all of which are just a short drive away by California standards.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to dedicate my shoutout to my husband Burton. Without him, I would not be where I am today. 22 years of living and working together in 2 different countries, helping thousands reclaim their health. Not to mention working on each other regularly to maintain us both in an optimized state.
