Meet Eric Anthony López | | Talks Phantom Broadway Closing, Next Chapter with Disney

We had the good fortune of connecting with Eric Anthony López and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Eric Anthony, how do you think about risk?
I’ve always been a risk taker. Since I was a teenager doing TV work and then at 19 leaving school, moving to New York to do a year plus run in an Off-Broadway show…I’ve always just really go for something, with 100% conviction. With age, I’ve become more and more skeptical & weary. Putting yourself out there is though…especially as a young latino just trying find my way in show business
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Gosh so many ways I could go with these. I don’t think anything I do sets me apart. I just want to work. Being an actor on Broadway, for film, television where ever it is..it’s a grind.
I also have other dreams too. Not everything has to be Broadway or Hollywood.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
In LA, GoodGood in East Hollywood..Santa Monica Boulevard..the avocado toast is the best. [Eric laughs]
I really like a place called Coffee and Plants in Pasadena and ChaumontVegan in Beverly Hills.
I am also not a vegan what so ever. Vegan food is just so freaking tasty to me. I also frequent the Starbucks and Panda Express joints [Eric laughs]
I clearly just wanted to talk about food here.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
So many people have helped me along the way. I feel all artists feel that way. It takes a village.
Since we’re talking Phantom Broadway coming to a close in 2023, my shoutouts and thanks will always be to the late director-producer icon Mr. Hal Prince & Ms. Kristen Blodgette (who is EGOT composer Andrew Lloyd Webber’s collaborator & music supervisor). I wouldn’t have made my childhood dream my reality and job without them. They’re the reasons I’ve made it Broadway
For Television [Eric laughs] my “breakout” as it’s been called on I CAN SEE…exec. producers Craig Plestis, Logan Clark, Madison Blakey, Ken Jeong and all the lovely hardworking folks over at FOX Alternative Entertainment. My experience with them prepared me for first film with Disney, which I was cast in months after wrapping I CAN SEE.
For Walt Disney Pictures, director Jingyi Shao, and producers Lena Waithe, Rishi Rajani, Brad Weston, Pamela Thur — they put me in my first movie. A freaking Disney movie. It’s wild.
You always remember the people who opened the door. Truly.
You also always remember the people along the way who told you “you couldn’t”. You remember the people who scoffed and laughed. I truly remember all of it. I give credit to those people too. Without that negativity, I wouldn’t have the drive and energy to push through.
