Meet Eric Reed | Musician

We had the good fortune of connecting with Eric Reed and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Eric, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
As a young boy growing up I spent a lot of time with my grandmother who was an amazing artist. She painted these beautiful paintings that left me in awe. She always filled up my time with art while I was around her whether it be painting or playing guitar in which she bought me my first at around 11 or 12. It was then that I fell in love with the guitar and began to speak through it. It was always in me so it just felt natural to pursue a career in music. It’s never felt like a hobby. It’s just who I am.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I guess the thing I’m most proud of is my determination, dedication and longevity. It is not easy having a music career these days. I’ve seen a lot of people come and go and yet here I am getting ready to release a brand new album. I started out playing in Rock bands on the Sunset strip in Hollywood and anyone who has gone down that road knows it’s not easy. You’re hustling constantly for gigs, trying to get into studios and create your vision trying to get heard. The whole time you’re doing this with other people and it’s almost like being married to multiple people so it’s not always smooth sailing. I learned a lot about myself in the process and decided to put my energy into a solo career that I could direct and create exactly what I wanted to say without worrying about pleasing other people. Because of that here I am releasing my second solo album in June and I couldn’t be happier about it. I learned it’s a lot easier going solo ha ha.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend came to town, I probably start off by hanging out in my neighborhood in Venice on the beach people watching. Then I’d take him to Fia for a good steak. After that, probably roll down to the rainbow on sunset have a couple drinks, then head over to the Viper Room for some live music. I probably do that for the whole week.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Like I mentioned before my late grandmother was a huge influence artistically.
