We had the good fortune of connecting with Eric Thornburg and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Eric, why did you pursue a creative career?
Growing up I was always an “outside the box” type of thinker & doer. Something about the unfamiliar or unpopular (at least where I am from) excited me which ultimately led me to pursue a career in music producing/live djing. With art there is no ceiling to your potential that can be reached, there is always room to grow, learn, and push your craft and the feeling of knowing there is constantly more to discover continues to keep my drive and passion so alive!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I produce electronic dance music as well as perform and dj live events across the United States. As far as top accomplishments, I am thankful to have played major festivals in both California (Escape Physco Circus) and Florida (EDC Orlando) as well as club events in multiple cities across the US. I have been producing for a total of 5 years and still am continue to learn each and every day. My biggest take away from pursuing a career in music, is that truly anything is possible if you put your mind to it. Find a passion or a goal and really give it your all!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
To be honest i’m a pretty simple guy. I grew up in Wichita, Kansas so its pretty easy to impress me when it comes to spots to visit! However I am a big fan of hiking either Griffith Park or Runyon Canyon if you want to stay local in Hollywood. But Malibu offers some amazing hiking and view just a bit more North of me! If you’re in the market for good food, I am an avid fan of Koreatown and their many Korean BBQ spots! From all you can eat to even all you can drink, you can never go wrong!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I owe my drive & work ethic to my parents ultimately. They are who really helped to provide me with resources and time to develop skills for passions that I discovered as my time growing up. Without their help I would be no where let alone in my career. I did attend Icon Collective Music Production School which really boosted not only my talent to create and produce music but gave me access to hundreds of other like minded people who ranged from below my level, at my level as well as way beyond my level when it came to the music industry. The relationships I formed and knowledge I learned from my mentors during my time at Icon drastically helped to shape the growth of my career at such an early point.
