We had the good fortune of connecting with Erica Anenberg and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Erica, how do you think about risk?
I thrive in risk taking. I believe the only way to succeed in life and business is to be willing to take risks. I don’t think of risks like other people do. I believe that most people view risks as a potential for possible failure. To me taking risks are about learning and growing. If I’m not willing to do something I’m not good at or try something I haven’t done before then how will I ever learn? How will I ever experience that unknown territory? So with that mindset and the goal of learning, growing and experiencing, then nothing is really a risk. It’s actually just another opportunity to finish my goals. When I take a risk, I don’t think of it as a risk because I’m accessing the situation, doing the next indicated action, weighing the pros and cons and excepting the consequences / benefits of my actions. I don’t get caught up in the, “should I do it or should I not” because that mindset will just keep you me in “pause mode” which I’m not very good at (hee hee).

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I’ve been a serial entrepreneur for the last three decades and have registered more D.B.A’s than I’m willing to admit 🤣. Business has always been a way for me to express myself in the world, where I was at in my life and what I was most passionate about at that particular time. In my younger entrepreneurial days I was highly motived by making money because money for me represented freedom and freedom has been an ongoing theme of mine since I was a toddler. As I was able to generate funds and have success, it lead me to take more risks in business, meaning that I could invest and fail and it wouldn’t be the end of the world. I could also take more time creating a business that I was really passionate about which leads me to what I am doing now. Throughout my life I have always been extremely handy. I was the tech geek that could set up computers and speakers while installing them in the ceiling. In my 20’s, I would knock down walls in my warehouse offices, build lofts and make stained glass windows. In my rental properties I would pull up carpets and redo the floors. When I was able to purchase a home and an income property I would do a major renovation every couple years. When COVID hit and my retail business flat lined, I decided to start a construction company called, Girl Flip, that could inspire other women to get involved in the trades. Today, I am a licensed, bonded and insured general contractor and I absolutely love working, bags on, in the field, creating and building for my clients.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I have to say that I’m pretty much a home body and love our house in Woodland Hills so after picking them up from Burbank airport I would order in Barone’s and jacuzzi and cold plunge for the night. We would wake up early and go to the Calabasas farmers market for fresh eggs and some branzino to grill up later. We would grab empanadas at Chilenazo on Canoga and Sherman Way and then check out Dinosaur’s in the Valley at Pierce college. We would go to a dingy strip mall in Canoga Park for dinner at, Go’s Mart, and it would be the best sushi they have ever had. The next day we would go get massages on Beverly and Olympic and soak in hot springs for the rest of the day. Night time would be dinner for Shabu Shabu on 2nd street at Tensho. Next day we would chill at home during the day and hit a movie & dine in at the Cinepolis. My wife and I would take them for energy work in the city at Thrive LA and turn them onto Dr. Chris George’s magic care. After we would have dinner at Crossroads in West Hollywood. We would probably end the trip back in the valley with some tea and meditation at The Japanese Gardens on Woodley.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would love to shoutout to all the incredible, supportive, strong, badass, loving, kind and rock solid women in my life that are alive or have passed on. I have a long lineage of strong women starting with my Grandma Ida who was known to move the furniture around (at 5 feet tall and 110 pounds) while no one was home because something “looked off”. To my Momma Jane who has passed away but still lights up my world with love and strength everyday. To my grounded, big sister, Kim (Kimmie) who has AMAZINGLY 😉 paved the way with encouragement and kindness. Saving the best for last is my rad, hot, sexy, supportive, strong, kind, loving, understanding and accepting of all my faults even when I have a hard time saying “sorry” wife Beth. I surround myself with successful, strong, loving, tell-it-like-it-is, badass women because that is who I am in this world.
