We had the good fortune of connecting with Erica Klipfel and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Erica, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
I think risk taking is essential in my career as it is directly linked to creative opportunity. As a designer, thinking outside the box is a fundamental part of the job and having the courage to take a risk is what directly helps enable the growth we need to think creatively. Without it, our work would be boring and bland. In my life and career, risk taking has not only been just an opportunity to grow as a designer, but also has helped me gain resilience through life’s failures and given me confidence in my ability to grow and bounce back. I always do live by the mantra that you can try and fail over and over, but the true failure is when you stop trying.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Growing up performing singing, dancing, and acting on stage, I knew I had to be apart of the creative world somehow. From an early age, I had a strong interest in architecture, so what better way to combine the two worlds than to pursue a career in Production Design. I attended undergraduate school at ASU for Interior Design and practiced professionally for several years until I felt I had a strong enough understanding to transfer my skills over to the motion picture industry. Through this journey of self-discovery, I think the biggest lesson I learned is patience. A delay in gratification-slowing down to take the extra time to put in the work necessary to be qualified is monumental. I wanted to so bad jump in to the motion picture industry both feet first, but the lessons I learned from working professionally after undergraduate school have been invaluable. I would advise to all fellow dreamers that it is essential to find the delicate balance between restlessness and ambition versus patience and fortitude.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If I had my best friend visit the area I would take her to the Newport Beach area. Other than looking at the beautiful ocean views, there are so many places in that area to eat, drink, and be merry. If you’re in Orange County, how could you also not take a day or two to pay a visit to Disneyland?

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My friends, all of the team at ADM Group, and of course all of my family.
