We had the good fortune of connecting with erica quillen and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi erica, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My thought process with starting my own business stemmed from the fact I had finally solved the problem I had spent YEARS trying to solve. It became very clear to me in my first job after college that I deeply craved having the freedom of being my own boss. I wanted to do things on my terms, give my full heart and reap the rewards of that. So once I finally figured out food and how to create a healthy lifestyle I didn’t need a break from, I knew that I could help other women solve this same problem that they were DESPERATE to find the answer to.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I’m a full time holistic health and nutrition coach who is absolutely obsessed with inspiring and helping women create a lifestyle they love. Through one on one coaching, I cultivate an entire experience for my clients that empowers, educates and frees them from years of yo-yo dieting and deprivation to a way of living in which they finally feel good not only in their body, but in their life.

Its so hard for me to put into words what it feels like to help so many women create a lifestyle rooted in health and wellness that they don’t have to escape from. After years of so desperately trying to figure food and exercise out for myself, I finally cracked the code, and to be able to help other people finally figure it out has been one of the greatest joys in my life.

I feel like I’ve been in training for what my business has become for what feels like my whole life. I fell in love with exercise at 15 and became intrigued with all of the diet books and ways of eating shortly there after. I have tried it all! What felt so challenging for so many years has ended up becoming the back bone of my business because its how I relate and understand my clients which has been the biggest blessing. I know what its like to have a tricky relationship with food which so often mirrors the relationship we have with ourselves. I know what it feels like to start your perfect plan on Monday for it to fall apart by Wednesday night after a draining day at work. I know this because I lived it.

Through sharing my own experience, I have attracted my ideal clients- the people I’m meant to help. My entire business has been referral based simply because my clients transformations speak for themselves. People in their life start asking what they’re doing, not just because of the weight they’ve lost but because of their overall energy being and feeling so radically different. The ripple effect of my work with my clients has led to me having clients all over the world! From where I live in Sarasota, Florida to New York to Canada and all the way to Japan! Each client that comes into my sphere is my opportunity to change the game and the world one human at a time and it is not something I take lightly. To have people truly open up about what’s getting in the way of them feeling how they want to feel in their bodies is an emotional conversation. To dive in and talk about one of the most intimate topics, the way they feel about their body requires vulnerability, rawness and total trust. These are the things I couldn’t find in all those diet books- THIS is the missing piece people are searching for on the internet late at night when they’re thoughts are keeping them up and they’re scrolling on the internet to find an answer. Holding a safe space for people to finally say things they’ve never said out loud is what gets us to make actual change- this is my specialty and what I’m most proud of in my work with my girls.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We’d start the day by grabbing a coffee at Buddy Brew- the best coffee shop in town! Followed by a walk over at Marina Jacks. Bathing suits would be thrown on and the afternoon would be spent at the beach- Lido or Siesta depending on the mood! Dinner would be at Owen’s Fish Camp, 1592 or Napule! All local- high quality, FEEL GOOD meals!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I cannot thank my coach, Kelly LeVeque enough for helping me live out this dream. Kelly helped change my relationship with food which ultimately changed the trajectory of my life. She inspired me to go back to school, start my business (imperfectly) and has helped me stay grounded in what’s true for me. This has all led to my business growing bigger than I knew what to do with and has allowed me to love what I do for a living. I would not be where I am today without her and I owe what feels like everything to her.
