We had the good fortune of connecting with Erika Faith Alcaraz and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Erika Faith, what’s your definition for success?
Defining success, for me, is all about personal growth. Sure, I’ve achieved a few things I’m proud of, but I don’t think I’ve reached my full potential yet. Success is like setting a goal for yourself, something you want to achieve in a set amount of time. And when you finally reach that goal, there’s this amazing feeling of peace and confidence, a real boost to your ego. But, it doesn’t last long. You start craving more of that good feeling, hungry for that sense of power. Success, to me, is when I’m happy with the work I’ve done, but I’m already thinking about what my next big milestone should be!
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I stepped into the realm of social media in 2017, focusing on producing ‘viral’ videos. It’s been an incredible journey, and I’m grateful for the opportunities I’ve had to showcase my creative skills. The trust and recognition from the company have allowed me to thrive.
Over the years, I’ve accumulated more than 6 billion views, specializing in crafting content that resonates and goes viral. In 2018, prior to the surge of TikTok and influencers, I achieved a milestone with one of Facebook’s highest-viewed videos, nearly hitting 500 million views in a single quarter for one video alone. This piece of content went viral across the internet, headlining articles on major publishing platforms and quickly becoming a trend on YouTube. The success not only brought immense satisfaction to myself but also contributed significantly to the company’s revenue. Also worth mentioning that I had the opportunity to create feature branded content with big brands such as Disney Jr, Disney + Disenchanted Movie, Paw Patrol Movie, Letgo App, Walmart, Bed Bath and Beyond, Glad, ABC The Kids Are Alright Show, Dunkin’ and many more!
It’s incredible to think that something like that can have a profound impact on the world, and even more astonishing is the fact that few people know I’m the creator behind it!
I’ve emerged as one of the consistent contributors, delivering high-performing content for the company. However, when the pandemic hit, leading my growth to a plateau, and making me question if my current role was the right fit. I decided to leave and ventured into advertising, swiftly landing a management role right after starting as creative producer in three months. And, as I reached that one-year mark, I realized the misery of working behind a computer; I missed the fun and light of production, being active, and filming!
Luckily, I was given a second chance, which I didn’t take for granted. This opportunity has now propelled me into my current position as the Director of Content for one of our brands—a role that has become a significant source of inspiration in my daily life.
Reflecting on my journey, I’ve learned valuable lessons that I apply in my personal social media space and in my career. That it is a balance, as I must consider the potential impact of each piece of content before creation. While most of my work aims to provide value, there are instances where my message doesn’t resonate with the audience. In those moments, the key is to acknowledge the mistake, learn from it, and strive to be better in the future.
Looking forward, my mission is to continue creating content that not only reaches millions but also adds a value to people’s lives! I understand the responsibility that comes with this platform, and I’m committed to making a positive impact with every piece of content I produce!
And on the fun side other than my main career I’m also a photographer, singer, and podcast host! I just love exploring other avenues of my creativity and plan to up-level my skills in that direction this year and many more years to come!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We’ll kick off with a visit to the famous Santa Monica Pier, enjoying a leisurely beach walk along the shore. Next, we’ll head straight to The Grove for the vibrant atmosphere. For dinner, we’re keeping it local with a visit to the street taco stand in Melrose and Vine. Adding a bit of adventure with a hike at Griffith Park to catch a breathtaking view of the Hollywood sign. And since the night is young, we’ll cap it off with some fun bar-hopping in WeHo!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to express my deep gratitude and appreciation to my parents—my mom, Rebecca Alcaraz, and my dad, William Alcaraz—for their sacrifices and guidance, so I can achieve and thrive in my life. I know how proud they are of me, they are my biggest supporters, and I genuinely wouldn’t have come this far without them.
Last but not least, a special shoutout to my husband, Eduardo Vargas, for his consistent and unwavering support towards my work! He’s my rock! Thank you my love.
