Meet Erini Nomikos | Singer-Songwriter

We had the good fortune of connecting with Erini Nomikos and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Erini, why did you pursue a creative career?
Pursuing a creative career came pretty natural to me. Since I can remember art and creativity has been part of my life and it has become the way I express my self. Honestly I can’t think of a life where I am not exploring my artistic side and this is big part of the reason why I chose music as a career. I sometimes compare art with drugs, maybe not the healthiest approach, but the feeling that I get when creating music or performing is irreplaceable and addictive. It’s the love and passion that’s in it. When you are that madly in love with something, you can not possibly let it go. That’s what happened to me with music and that is why I have pursued a career in music and wouldn’t change it for the world.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I moved from Athens, Greece knowing that music in Los Angeles was a competitive industry, but also knowing that my chances were better here. I have been working and hustling to get to where I am today and it has been a beautiful journey so far. Obviously I’ve had my ups and downs, but that is how life is. I realized that having a community and people that love and support you is the most important thing. Any challenge I faced I wouldn’t be able to do so without these people. Believing in myself and not giving up is also a big part of overcoming the hard times. We all have our doubts and insecurities, trust me they can really get you sometimes, but being able to take a moment, remember the reasons why you are doing what you do, trusting the process, putting in the work and letting it take you where it needs to is really important. So what I want to let the wold know is that, as I said before, if you really love something, whether that is your career, a hobby or a person, you put your whole entire heart in it, you try to make it grow and become the best version of what it can be and that is my approach in my music and my life in general.
I do currently have a couple fun projects going on. What I’m most excited about though is all the new music my team and I are currently working on. We have blended soul, pop, jazz, funk and greek music in melodies and lyrics that really showcase who I am and what I believe in. This project is not just music that I make it’s a trip into the influences that shape my world!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I am big on nature exploration and art, so anything related to that is a yes. Would definitely take them to Malibu Pier and teach them how to surf if they don’t already know, maybe go on a couple hikes and visit some of the state/national parks like Sequoia, Big Sur and Yosemite. Our nights out would be live music and dancing. There’s so many hidden gems around town for salsa dancing and even more for soul, funk and jazz live music. Black Rabbit Rose in Hollywood is for sure one of the spots I would take anyone to since it’s also the bar I currently perform at and every night is full of talented musicians giving their heart on stage. Sunday night ritual is going to Petit Ermitage, my good friend hosts a jazz night and it is the perfect cozy vibe to wrap up the week.
Honestly, I am very much go with the flow type of person so whatever my friends want to do I would try my best to make them happy. There’s so much happening around town, pop up shows, exhibitions, anything you can imagine you can find
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
A lot of credit and recognition in my story goes to my friends and family. It is so important to have a circle of people that supports and shares the same passion for life as you. This last year I have been lucky enough to surround my self with people that love to live, are hard working, adventurous and curious. Every single person in this amazing group that I call friends has encouraged me and pushed me to become better. It is beautiful to see how just by supporting each other, being transparent and positive can get you so far in life. Every day I feel their love and light in my life and its enough to keep me wanting to be the best version of my self.
