We had the good fortune of connecting with ESTEFANY CESPEDES and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi ESTEFANY, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?
“No hay medicina que cure lo que no cura la felicidad/ No medicine cures what happiness cannot.”-Gabriel García Márquez
This quote has been my favorite since the first time I read it. It’s a constant reminder to always find happiness no matter the situation. I’ve taken myself out of very dark times through faith in God and continuously reminding myself that happiness and gratefulness cures all.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My business is called Mint Skin. Whether we provide an at home service or you come to our space, we thrive in having an at home feel. Comfortability is our goal. I believe that is what sets us apart from others. Aesthetics have blown up so much that there’s places that make you feel like just another customer when you walk in. At times even feel rushed through your service. Mint Skin aims to provide an effective treatment in a timely manner for both parties.
Running a business is not an easy task, there’s a lot of no’s involved and constant self-motivation needed. There’s days that are very difficult and make you want to quit but once you push through it the reward is a blessing.
One of the most important lessons I’ve learned along the way is to remain humble. One day you may have a really big opportunity and the next may not be as pleasant yet you should treat both with the same enthusiasm and respect.
I want others to know that my goal in this industry is deeper than beauty. I grew to love what I do because I was able to help educate teens with low self esteem, cancer patients with sensitive skin, and many others find ways to create a skin care routine that works for them.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
When friends come to my city I like to show them a mixture of touristy spots and my favorite local ones.
The perfect week would consist of hikes, yoga, a stroll around Venice, and a beach day at my favorite private beach in Malibu.
Taco Tuesday we are going Bowling at Lucky Strike where my good friend Dj Casanova spins. We must stop by Erewhon or Eataly at some point for a little grocery shopping and light lunch. Some retail fun at the Grove and Beverly Hills of course. For yummy gastronomy options I’d say Olivetta, Sant’olina, Felix, Rosaline, Nobu or Matsuhisa. We must do a night out with my friend and fave Dj Asia Shabbazz, at one of the Soho Houses she’s a resident at.
End the week at a local Farmers Market, and lay out by the pool at their hotel and have them try some yummy vegan at either one of my faves… Crossroads, Pure Vita, Monty’s or H.O.P.E for dinner.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Ivonne Rendon, my mother is my inspiration and my why. She is one of the strongest individuals I know. She was raised by her grandmother in Colombia and moved to New York at 19 years old to join her mother and siblings who grew upstate. After getting married to my father they ended up moving back to Colombia 8 years later after having my older sister and I. Growing up I saw her run her own business, support my dads, take care of the family and give back to those in need. They say, charity begins at home right?! After divorcing my father and moving to Los Angeles, CA I saw how resilient and selfless she is. Single mothers deserve all the flowers because I’ve seen first hand it’s no easy task. The hard work and dedication never went unnoticed and I’m forever grateful and inspired by her.
Sevana Petrosian, another very special person in my life and one who I am thankful for supporting my dreams and pushing my brand without any expectations. Thank you for always keeping your word while I was going to school in Miami and you were building your empire in Los Angeles. She is an entrepreneur with a heart of gold. I love you Sev!
