We had the good fortune of connecting with Evetta Petty and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Evetta, what do you attribute your success to?
The most important factor behind my success is my unique design ability.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
With my special skill set, I design and create headwear and hats that are distinctive and one of a kind. My customers come to me to dress them for special occasions and milestones in their life. I specialize in whimsical headwear for horse races, society luncheons, church services, weddings, and all hat required events. I approach millinery as wearable Art and I embrace the use of unconventional materials. My headwear has been recognized all over the world. Besides my hats being featured on the pages of Vogue, having my hats on display as part of a special exhibit of couture hats in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, was the pinnacle of my career.
I am proud to be a part of the rich fashion history of Harlem for over 30 years, a vibrant community with a great sense of style.
