We had the good fortune of connecting with Faithima Wright and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Faithima, what role has risk played in your life or career?
“Life begins at the end of your comfort zone” is a phrase I live by. I’ve learned to embrace challenges. I appreciate the lessons I learn both the good and bad. I feel once you understand that failure is sometimes necessary it makes taking risks less scary. Taking risks and allowing myself to be vulnerable has opened many doors for me.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a Costumer and Aspiring Costume Designer. I enjoy telling stories through clothing. Historical African stories and Afro-futuristic films are my favorite projects. My journey hasn’t always been easy. I’m probably my worst critic. Although I am accustomed to taking chances, I battle with self-doubt and anxiety. I take pride in my small accomplishments and enjoy just being a student. I strive to learn all that I can to perfect my craft. I work hard to teach and inspire new people I meet along the way.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
When my sisters come to visit, I enjoy taking them to locations where scenes from some of their favorite tv series were filmed. I often take my guests to the Santa Monica Pier or to the beaches in Malibu. Brunch spots in Beverly Hills or West Hollywood are always a good time.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to give thanks to Olamiposi my first friend I’ve made since moving to LA. Lamipo has been a great influence as well as an accountability partner for me on my journey.I also give thanks to my sisters Shondra, Ayesha, Latifah, Shacora, Hadiyah, Badia and Sameerah who continue to support me in all my seasons.
