Hi Fancy, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My journey into the world of perfumery business began with a profound love for scents and a deep-seated desire to craft fragrances that not only smell exquisite but also uplift the spirit and leave lasting, beautiful memories. Perfume, for me, is more than just a fragrance; it’s a form of art that has the power to evoke emotions, tell stories, and create a unique connection between individuals.

The decision to embark on this journey was driven by a genuine passion to share a piece of myself with the world. I believe that a fragrance is a personal expression, a reflection of one’s essence and character. Creating this line from scratch allowed me to infuse every note, every nuance with a part of my own story, making it a truly authentic experience for everyone who encounters it.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I am the founder of Simply Fancy, a perfume line that weaves beautiful scents into unforgettable memories. What sets us apart is the careful selection of perfume notes, crafting a narrative within each fragrance. For our debut scent, Simply Fancy, I aimed for an uplifting experience using floral and citrus notes complemented by lavender for a calming touch.

Getting to where I am today has been a journey of hard work and consistency. I’ve faced challenges, but I refuse to let them hinder my passion. I’ve learned to navigate obstacles with resilience and grace.

A crucial lesson I’ve learned is the importance of self-care. While being there for others is vital, maintaining a balance and putting myself first when needed is crucial. I believe in the significance of a well-filled cup to pour into others effectively.

What I want the world to know about Simply Fancy is that it reflects my authentic self. Despite my name being Fancy, I’m just a simple girl with ambitious dreams, emotions, and imperfections. The brand embodies this authenticity, symbolized by its name. I hope people will support the journey of a young girl from Nigeria as she blossoms into the person she aspires to be, spreading positive vibes along the way.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend visited LA for a week, I’d kick off with Hollywood’s Walk of Fame and a chic dinner. Next, a day at Santa Monica Pier with a seaside lunch. Artsy vibes at the Getty Center and LACMA on day three, followed by a nature retreat exploring Runyon Canyon and Griffith Observatory. Beverly Hills shopping and dining on day five, a downtown adventure with The Broad Museum on day six, and a relaxed day in Malibu with coastal drives and beachfront dining on the final day. LA’s iconic spots and diverse experiences for an unforgettable week!

I want to give a well-deserved shout out to someone incredible – my sister, Eva Acholonu.

Eva has been working tirelessly as a business owner, and her dedication and hard work in the real estate world have been nothing short of amazing. Starting her own company from scratch is no small feat, and she’s been navigating the challenges with grace and determination.

I couldn’t be prouder of her accomplishments and the impact she’s making in her industry. Eva is not just a sister; she’s a shining example of what passion, resilience, and hard work can achieve. I’m very proud of her.
