We had the good fortune of connecting with Farid Mammadov and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Farid, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
The idea for my career comes from a lifelong passion for music. I started singing at age six, and my parents quickly noticed my talent. Over the years, I continued developing my career—writing songs, performing on big stages, and touring internationally with a children’s ensemble. I stayed active in the music scene, which eventually led me to win my country’s national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest. There, I placed 2nd, received the Marcel Bezençon Award for Best Artist, and earned the highest score in my country’s Eurovision history. All of this shaped the career I’ve built today.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My music is honest, emotional, and rooted in real experiences. I blend soulful melodies with influences from my cultural background, creating songs that connect on a deeper level.
What sets me apart is staying true to my voice—I don’t follow trends, I follow feeling.
The journey hasn’t been easy, but consistency, passion, and learning from every challenge got me here.
I want people to know that my music tells a story—one of growth, emotion, and staying authentic through it all.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Depends on which city we’re talking about!

If it’s Los Angeles, I’d kick things off with a chill day at Malibu Beach—just enjoying the ocean and fresh air. Then we’d grab sushi at my favorite spot, Roll Roll Roll in K-Town. We’d take a boat tour to see dolphins and whales, and of course, hit up Disneyland for some classic fun. Just good vibes and a packed week of cool experiences.

If it’s Baku (Azerbaijan), I’d take my friend for a walk along the beautiful seaside promenade by the Caspian Sea, enjoy some amazing kebabs, and drink hot tea with pakhlava at a cozy spot. We’d also explore other parts of Azerbaijan—maybe take a trip to Sheki or Gabala to see the mountains and experience the culture.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to give a special shoutout to Vaqif Gerayzadeh, whose music and guidance had a big impact on my journey—when I was just 8 years old, he even convinced me to buy a Stevie Wonder tape. That moment deeply influenced my musical taste and opened my ears to a whole new sound.
