We had the good fortune of connecting with Ten 26 Biddy Sticks and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ten 26, every day, we about how much execution matters, but we think ideas matter as well. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
Growing up, our mom, Biddy, as she was nicknamed, entertained all the time and was known for her “doctored up” breadsticks that graced most occasions. Guests couldn’t get enough of Biddy’s breadsticks and always asked for more. The day before every holiday or party, Mom was in the kitchen working her magic. You can’t imagine the aroma of buttering breadsticks that permeated the house – pure deliciousness! For years, people begged us to market the breadsticks, and we always laughed it off. A couple years ago, we decided to give it a go and Biddy Sticks was born (seemed a fitting nod to Mom). Thankfully, the response has been overwhelming. Since the original recipe, which is a favorite (No. 1 Buttered), we’ve played around and recipe tested with ingredients and flavor profiles. We are only too thrilled to have come up with additional flavors that really round out our brand, Ten 26, which just happens to be our mom’s birthday. We’ve both been in the event industry for too long to mention and are thoroughly enjoying this fresh perspective and change from what we’ve done for so many years. What fun to now be able to work side by side as sisters inspired by our mom, the biggest inspiration and role model for each of us.
Please tell us more about your career. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
Quite honestly, we believe that our flavors set us apart from any other breadsticks. People seem drawn to Biddy Sticks, first because of the thoughtfully curated packaging that catches the eye, to the incredibly delicious flavors with attention to the highest quality organic ingredients that we use in our handmade breadsticks. We feel the most impactful lesson to date is to seize the moment and do it. We both held ourselves back from this endeavor for too long and it feels so good to let go and give it your all. So, our biggest challenge was believing in us. Once our minds were set to embark on this new adventure 100%, things seemed to fall into place beautifully – we think in large part, due to the inspiration we both share.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Because Ten 26 LLC is based out of both Santa Barbara and Santa Monica, we’d start out in Santa Monica headed to the Arts District to take it all in, followed by afternoon stroll along the beach and picnic. To wrap up, a drive up the coast to Santa Barbara with dinner and drinks at our favorite local spots.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Our mom, Biddy, is our inspiration and we’d love to thank our families for sampling SO many breadsticks and not tiring of it, while supporting us always.
