We had the good fortune of connecting with Felipe Pimentel Carneiro and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Felipe, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I’ve always been passionate about expressing myself through art and collaborating with like-minded individuals. My goal is to create something that reflects my unique vision of the world—something that not only serves as a personal outlet for my creativity but also makes a meaningful impact on others. I want to build a platform that helps people transform their ideas into a clear, actionable vision, whether for themselves or their business. As an immigrant, I believe that taking personal initiative is key to establishing one’s place in the world, and starting a business is my way of doing just that.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
At 18, I came from Brazil to the U.S. on my own, driven by a desire to pursue an education in filmmaking and photography. Like many immigrants, moving to a new country with a different language and culture—and starting from scratch—was intimidating at first. There were moments filled with loneliness, fear, and doubt. But I always held onto the belief that the sacrifices and hard work would eventually pay off. I focused on my goals and used them as motivation to keep moving forward.

During college, I met so many inspiring people who helped me slowly find my way into my craft. I learned that when you work with passion and persistence, you will undoubtedly make progress. Sometimes it might not be the path you expect, but life has a way of leading us to places we never imagined.

I started with nothing more than a rental camera from the library, and that led to my first job as a photographer at Intersect LA. From there, I landed an internship at The Soraya, an important concert hall in the San Fernando Valley. Through those experiences, I met people who shared my interests, and we collaborated on various film and photography projects. That journey inspired me to start my own business, and now, I have an extensive portfolio in photography, cinematography, and many aspects of film and commercial production. It all began with that rental camera a few years ago.

Behind Syd Vision Productions is not just a business, but someone who is deeply committed to personal growth, contributing to the community, and making a positive impact in the world.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love LA because it has something for everyone, no matter what vibe you’re into.

If you’re looking for a chill and peaceful spot, the museums are a great choice. The Getty Museum and The Getty Villa are some of the most stunning places in the city. Their architecture, gardens, and art displays always leave me inspired.

If you love the energy of the city, check out Downtown LA, Little Tokyo, and Hollywood. The mix of cultures here makes every corner feel fresh and exciting—you never know what cool thing you’ll stumble upon.

For beach lovers, Venice and Santa Monica are always fun to walk around, but if you’re after the best sunset, Rancho Palos Verdes is the spot. The cliffs overlooking the ocean are absolutely breathtaking.

And if you’re into hiking, the Valley has tons of great trails. From Granada Hills to Chatsworth, the natural landscapes are beautiful and a perfect way to get out of the fast environment of the city.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has supported me along the way. First and foremost, I thank my family for always believing in me and providing the opportunities that have shaped my journey and brought me to where I am today. I’m deeply grateful to my mentors, Rollance Patugan and Henryk Cymmerman, two professors who played a pivotal role in the early stages of my career. I’d also like to thank Melissa Termini, a talented multimedia artist and educator, for being a guiding force in my journey and connecting me with Shoutout LA. Finally, I want to acknowledge The Bridge Program, created by the American Society of Media Photographers, for its invaluable support in helping emerging photographers in Los Angeles.
