We had the good fortune of connecting with Fernando Bojorquez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Fernando, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
Im from Mexico and moved to California five years ago. Back in Mexico filmmaking was not a realistic choice when it came to a career path but I have always had a passion for story telling. Now that I’m here I want to take full advantage of connections and tools that I have obtain for the past years. I will always carry Mexico in my heart and hopefully I will be able to come back and tell all creative people that there might be a lot of obstacles in their way but if you really have a passion for what you do, nothing is really impossible.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
A lot of filmmakers see making movies as a career path or a nice job. I see it as a way to tell my story and support groups that need more attention and that could really use our help.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
One of my favorite spots of LA is the Griffith observatory. The view up there it’s just incredible!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to dedicate this shoutout to Freerealm entertainment because without to that group of filmmakers I would not be where I am. And also a shoutout to Saddleback college because it thought me basically everything that I know when it comes to filmmaking.
