We had the good fortune of connecting with Fernando Cuevas and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Fernando, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
One of the most important factors behind CASAminimo’s success contributes to fresh, new, and unique designs. In the Interior / Furniture Design Industry where so many options are accessible to the consumer internationally, it’s become very important for me to curate products that speak to this brand individually. When I think about designing a new product for the collection, stepping outside of the box is a thought that’s always at the forefront of my mind. I start with one bold piece and usually curate the rest of the collection based off of that first product design.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
CASAminimo is all about that unique furniture piece that’s made well, built right, and is soon to become the next family heirloom. One of the great things about us is that we are locally artisan-made here in Los Angeles. It’s important to us because there’s a sense of pride that goes into a quality-built product. Everything is quality controlled from start to finish. This is what makes CASAminimo a standout furniture company.

Getting to where this company is at now hasn’t been so easy. It took a lot of persistence and perseverance to overcome the start of this pandemic. But fast forward to today, we’ve learned a lot from material delays, price point adjustments, to now delivering the best products we could build. Some of the contributions are owed to some amazing magazine features like ARCHITECTURAL DIGEST in February 2022 Issue and amazing partnerships with companies like WESCOVER which highlights artisan crafts from around the globe.

As the company starts to grow, my goal is to give back to the community. I feel we need more awareness about building lasting quality products that essentially are sustainable and it’s my goal to continue to meet those guidelines.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would definitely have a bbq at my “casa” with some of my most intimate friends. My partner Dan and I have a pretty amazing view here so when we entertain, the view and our backyard become the highlight of our hangout. From there, I’d drive us down to the ROW DTLA for a good happy hour and some Oysters – as my mouth salivates! ROW DTLA has great shopping as well so we’d be scoping the great outdoor shopping plaza for a few hours. Following that nice walk, we’d definitely hit one of my favorite bars in DTLA called LA CITA. It’s a divey bar, chill, and serves a killer mezcal spicy margarita. My favorite go-to drink!

Resting for a day, then taking a quick day trip to Santa Barbara is another must on the list. Hotel Casa Del Mar is one of my faves to stay at because it’s got this boutique hotel vibe, is budget-friendly, and has a great Spanish-mod aesthetic.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
In this shoutout, I’d love to recognize my mom. She’s always been a huge support and has financially invested where she could so that I could kickstart this company. Thanks Mom!
