Meet Fidia Falaschetti | Contemporary Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Fidia Falaschetti and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Fidia, do you have a favorite quote or affirmation?
“Give me a lever and a place to stand and I will move the earth (Archimedes)”. This quote has been always my mantra. Is a neat metaphor that everything is possible. We can do whatever we want, if we start from a certain point. Our tools are the lever, and our creativity is the endless possibility to move forward and give birth to ideas.
“The quote ‘Give me a lever and a place to stand and I will move the earth’ by Archimedes has been my guiding mantra throughout life. It encapsulates the essence of limitless possibilities and serves as a profound metaphor for achieving the seemingly impossible. The lever symbolizes the tools and resources at our disposal, while the place to stand represents a starting point or foundation. This quote resonates with me because it encapsulates the belief that with the right ideas and a strategic starting drive, we can overcome any challenge and bring our creative visions to life. It’s a powerful reminder that innovation and progress are within our grasp when we harness the right combination of resources and ingenuity.”

Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
My art is not talking much about me. It’s a reflection of our collective existence in this tumultuous era. Some may categorize it as social commentary art, others as pop art or conceptual art. Personally, I see it as a visually engaging and humorous medium that sparks dialogue among people. It’s accessible yet layered with multiple meanings, serving as a catalyst for meaningful conversations.
The biggest challenge? It is not just a business for me. Navigating the professional landscape has been a journey of self-discovery, particularly in assuming the role of CEO for my art ‘company.’ While my creations have gained significant financial value, I still view my art as an extension of my life rather than a mere occupation. It’s a challenge to assign a monetary value to something that feels as personal as a piece of my soul: it could be worth billions or just be a token for a kind person that deserves it. Despite its newfound value, I prefer to maintain the perspective of the child on the floor, drawing and sculpting with clay.
The true measure of success, in my view, lies in aligning with the intentions that drive you rather than fixating on profits. Money, while a welcome consequence, should not overshadow the core purpose of any artistic endeavor. The key to my success has been following my heart and believing in the story I had to tell. I’ve learned that adhering to one’s authentic purpose invites a certain magic into one’s journey—a synchronicity with the flow of the universe.
I like the world to see my art is a platform to amplify the voices of those who may not have the opportunity to speak. I see myself as a conduit, speaking for those who are unheard or marginalized. It’s a profound privilege to give voice to the silent and, in doing so, contribute to a broader dialogue that transcends individual narratives.”

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
In LA? Of course, a mandatory pit stop at my ART studio in the DTLA arts district! Especially this week since I am dropping my latest edition of 100 Sculpture Toy ASS THROW BOY! You can also follow online on my web store. Then, let’s keep going with a dose of culture at the Broad and Moca, to remark the fact that art appreciation is a must. Then, a serene escape to the Huntington Botanical Gardens in Pasadena to surround ourselves with nature’s beauty. We can’t skip the quintessential Malibu surf session – a Californian experience at its finest and mandatory practice in my life! And for a touch of adventure, hiking the trails in Joshua Tree would be a must. Although, with just a week, spontaneity might be our best guide through LA’s diverse offerings. And of course: wouldn’t you make a pit stop at my ART studio in the DTLA arts district?
Now, if it’s not LA, my beloved Italy is the answer. The timeless charm of my country is a trip worth savoring. From the bustling streets to the delightful culinary scene, Italy offers a more relaxed pace where every moment feels precious.
So, whether it’s exploring the vibrant streets of LA or savoring the leisurely atmosphere of Italy, the key is to embrace the journey and let the experiences unfold.”

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I am incredibly grateful for the strong support system that has shaped my journey, and I would like to dedicate my shoutout to those who have played pivotal roles in my life. Firstly, my family deserves immense credit. They not only raised me in an environment that fostered creativity but also bestowed upon me a name rooted in the rich history of Greek art, dating back to 430 BC, as one of the biggest Greek sculptor. My parents and Grandad, all artists in their own right, have been my constant motivation.
I am fortunate to be surrounded by a circle of friends and fellow artists who have served as mentors, providing invaluable guidance and strength throughout my artistic career. Among them are close friends like Cristobal Valecillos and Matteo Basile. Additionally, I extend my gratitude to many collectors and renowned individuals who have supported my work, such as Justin Bieber, Robert Downey Junior, and WNBA star Cancee Parker, to just name a few. The fact that they have chosen to include my creations in their collections is not only a tremendous honor but also a source of ongoing motivation. Their unwavering support fuels my determination to create new artworks and persist in the pursuit of my artistic endeavors.
