We had the good fortune of connecting with Foreword Films and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Foreword, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
At Foreword Films, we preach “Knowing your network.” This has been the single most important factor behind our continued success and growth! You may have heard the term “Grow Your Network” before. But the idea that you will grow if your network grows has its flaws. The size of your network might be important when it comes to business development, but when you’re in a pinch, will anybody come through for you? This is why we preach the concept of “KNOW Your Network,” because even if your network is small, if the people in it will be there for you no matter what, your network is much more valuable than you think. Who is in your network right now? Note their strengths, weakness, industries, etc. Are you investing time into a more diverse and inclusive network? Expanding the circles around you shape the perspectives that constantly move your business forward. Understanding your network and relying on them for helpful insight when possible is an immediate strength of your business. Know how they fit in your network and how you fit in theirs. Continue to share your story and the passion you feel behind it and those in your network will want to support that.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Everybody is always looking for separation when it comes to selling yourself or your business. We do think we are different, but not in the standard way of looking at it. Our stories are raw and authentic, but a lot of people can say that. What makes us different is…us. Our goal is to create stunning visuals for our clients, but we also want to be those guys that you go grab a beer with after it’s all said and done. We never want to finish a project and never hear from our clients again. If we had it our way, it would be “beers after” every job!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
1) Wake up, COFFEE! Our favorite spot in El Segundo, CA is called Smoky Hollow Roasters. *Must try the cold brew 2) Hop in the car and drive north. 3) Drive up the PCH to our favorite hike, Sandstone Peak. (Malibu, CA) 4) Stop off at Neptunes Net for some tacos 5) Park the car on the PCH and watch the surfers at County Line
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Shoutout to our experiences and our failures! We’ve had amazing experiences that have graced us with learnings and insight, and those experiences provided the momentum we needed to compile our knowledge into this playbook. We’ve been fortunate enough to foster meaningful relationships with people who have inspired us in many ways, and we’ve learned a great deal from them, personally and professionally. But we learned way more by doing and trying and fail- ing and starting what we know today as Foreword Films. Nothing anybody tells you can take the place of your own experience. Being a successful business owner is a constant pursuit of knowledge, because that knowledge will help your business succeed, and the success of your business means the daily fulfillment of your pas- sion; they all work together.
